One of the most major forts in the state of Maharashtra, Sinhagad is a fort that is a mere 25km from the main city of Pune. It was the place where the great Maratha General TanajiMalusare had laid down his life fighting the Mughals, until ShivajiMaharaj’s forces could arrive. The fort is still in a relatively intact condition and can be reached using the easy way uphill. The fort in the monsoons is a true beauty as strong winds from the valleys whoosh past you.

Both ways up are equally pleasing and offer breathtakikng views all around. The top also has an operational Doordarshan and Radio tower. The small hotels on top are especially famous for serving ‘pakode’with tea, curd in earthen pots and Bhakri (Indian bread made of Jowar Four) with a vegetable made out of onions!
