Iceland Honeymoon Packages

Reviewed by Thrillophilia’s Iceland Operations Team

Updated as of June 2026

Iceland honeymoon packages from 5 to 13 days range between INR 185,000 and INR 405,654 per couple for curated itineraries covering Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, glacier regions, geothermal lagoons, and the dramatic landscapes that make Iceland feel almost unreal for first-time visitors.

A honeymoon trip to Iceland is usually less about crowded sightseeing and more about shared moments like soaking in geothermal waters while snow falls outside, driving past black sand beaches under low Arctic light, or standing together beneath the Northern Lights in complete silence.

Unlike tropical honeymoon destinations that revolve around beaches and resorts, an Iceland honeymoon package feels cinematic and raw. One day could involve glacier hiking or ice cave exploration, while another could simply mean watching waterfalls from roadside viewpoints with almost no one around. Couples who choose Iceland usually want a honeymoon that feels memorable because of the experience itself, rather than just luxury stays.

With Thrillophilia, travellers receive curated stays, guided excursions, airport transfers, and route planning support designed specifically around Iceland’s changing weather conditions and long-distance driving routes.

Iceland Honeymoon Cost Breakdown

An Iceland honeymoon trip is generally more premium compared to standard European itineraries because of transportation costs, seasonal demand, and the country’s remote geography. Thrillophilia’s Iceland honeymoon packages provide you with a well-designed, organised and managed itinerary all under one roof, keeping the budget as per your choice.

Another thing travellers usually underestimate is the daily food cost in Iceland. Dining, fuel, and activities are noticeably more expensive compared to mainland Europe, so budgeting realistically becomes important before planning the route.

Best time to plan your Iceland honeymoon packages

The best time to plan your romantic Iceland tour package depends on your goals: June to August is ideal for mild weather, accessible highlands, and the Midnight Sun, while September to March is best for seeing the Northern Lights, crystal blue ice caves, and snowy landscapes.

Here is the season's breakdown to help you plan your Iceland honeymoon tour package:

Summer (June – August)

  • The Midnight Sun (24 hours of daylight in June), blooming lupine flowers, vibrant birdlife (including puffins), and clear access to F-roads (highland mountain tracks).
  • Road trips, hiking, camping, and whale watching.
  • Peak tourist season means higher prices for car rentals and accommodations, along with crowded major sites.

Winter (November – March)

  • Snow-covered dramatic landscapes, natural blue ice caves, and prime conditions for viewing the Northern Lights.
  • Northern Lights hunts, geothermal hot springs, glacier hiking, and budget-friendly travel (flights and hotels are much cheaper).
  • Short daylight hours (as little as 4-5 hours in December) and unpredictable, harsh weather that can cause road closures or flight delays.

Shoulder Seasons (April – May & September – October)

  • A great compromise. You get a mix of lingering snow and emerging greenery. September and October offer a high chance of northern lights without the extreme cold of deep winter.
  • Shoulder-season pricing, fewer crowds, and transitional activities.
  • The weather can be highly unpredictable, and some highland roads may be closed.

How to Reach Iceland from India

There are no direct flights from India to Iceland. To reach Iceland, you must book a connecting flight from major Indian hubs like New Delhi (DEL) or Mumbai (BOM) to Iceland's primary international gateway, Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavík

  • From: Delhi or Mumbai
  • To: Keflavík International Airport (KEF), Reykjavík, Iceland
  • Layover: Helsinki (HEL), Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Warsaw (WAW)
  • Price: INR 76,074 to INR 136,000 (as per the layover and season of the trip)
  • Duration: 13 hours and 40 minutes to over 24 hours (depending on the layover)
  • Airlines: Finnair, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Air India, IndiGo, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad

Iceland Visa for Indian Travellers

Indian couples must obtain a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) before visiting Iceland, as visa-on-arrival or eVisa options are not available. Because Iceland does not have an independent visa-issuing consulate in India, all applications are processed through the official partner, VFS Global Iceland, and forwarded to the designated regional embassy.

The visa allows for tourist stays of up to 90 days within any 180 days across Iceland and the wider Schengen zone.

Visa Fees & Total Cost (2026)

Schengen visa fees are standardised, though exchange rates fluctuate.

  • Adults (12+ years): €90 (~₹8,200 to ₹9,800 depending on the current monthly consular conversion rate).
  • Children (6–11 years): €45 (~₹4,100 to ₹4,900).
  • Children (Under 6 years): Exempt from the embassy visa fee.
  • VFS Global Service Charge: An additional mandatory processing fee of ~₹1,700 to ₹3,100 per application.

Note: All fees are non-refundable even if the visa is rejected

Mandatory Document Checklist

All copies must be submitted in clean, A4-format colour printouts alongside your originals during your appointment. Follow the Government of Iceland portal for detailed information.

  1. Valid Passport: Issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from Europe, with at least 2 blank pages.
  2. Schengen Visa Application Form: Fully completed and signed.
  3. Passport Photographs: Two recent biometric passport-sized photographs matching Schengen specifications.
  4. Cover Letter: A typed personal letter detailing the purpose of your trip, exact dates, travel companions, and a day-by-day itinerary.
  5. Proof of Transport & Accommodation: Confirmed round-trip flight tickets and verifiable hotel reservations matching your exact travel dates.
  6. Mandatory Travel Insurance: A policy from an approved Indian insurance provider offering a minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and repatriation.
  7. Proof of Personal Financial Means:
    • Original personal bank statements from the last 3 months, showcasing a healthy balance, with every page stamped and signed by your bank.
    • Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the past 2–3 years.
    • Employed travellers, last 3 months' salary slips, your employment contract, and an official Leave Approval/No Objection Certificate (NOC).
    • Self-employed travellers must provide company registration certificates, GST certificates, and business bank statements.
    • Students must give an official enrolment certificate from their school or university.

Places to Visit in Iceland

Iceland honeymoon package attractions are spread across the country, which is why most travellers spend at least 7 days exploring it. Here are the top places to visit in Iceland.

Reykjavik

Reykjavik is usually the first stop on an Iceland honeymoon and works as a comfortable base before longer road journeys begin. The Reykjavik city combines colourful Nordic streets, cafés, geothermal pools, live music bars, and Icelandic design culture within a compact and walkable layout.

Couples often spend evenings around the old harbour area or near Hallgrímskirkja Church, especially during winter when the city lights reflect beautifully against the snow-covered surroundings.

Vík í Mýrdal

Vík feels dramatically different from Reykjavik. Located along Iceland’s south coast, the village is known for black sand beaches, volcanic cliffs, powerful Atlantic waves, and the nearby Reynisfjara shoreline that many Indian travellers recognise from the film Dilwale.

One thing travellers are usually warned about here is the sneaker waves near Reynisfjara Beach. The ocean can become unexpectedly dangerous even during calm-looking conditions.

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most iconic honeymoon experiences. Contrary to common assumptions, it is not a natural lake but a geothermal lagoon created from mineral-rich heated seawater.

The warm silica-rich water surrounded by lava fields in creates a setting that feels surreal during both summer and winter. Evening slots are generally preferred by honeymoon couples because the atmosphere becomes quieter and more intimate after daytime crowds have reduced.

Skaftafell

Skaftafell, located inside Vatnajökull National Park, is popular among couples who want Iceland’s glacier landscapes without venturing too far into remote Arctic regions. Kiara Khanna, one of our verified travellers from Jaipur who booked the Treasures of Iceland | Chasing Northern Lights and Glacial Wonders package, shared in March 2026 that, “My visit to Iceland was truly magical. Exploring its dramatic landscapes and natural wonders felt surreal. Walking near massive waterfalls and glaciers was an unforgettable experience. The scenic beauty all around made it perfect for anyone looking for a unique and adventurous getaway.”

The region is known for glacier hiking routes, dramatic ice formations, and the Svartifoss waterfall surrounded by basalt rock columns. It feels more rugged and adventure-focused compared to Iceland’s geothermal spa regions.

Snæfellsjökull National Park

This national park combines lava fields, volcanic landscapes, coastal cliffs, and glacier-covered peaks within one scenic peninsula. The Snæfellsjökull glacier volcano itself became globally known through Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

The entire drive around this region feels quieter and less commercial than Iceland’s southern tourist circuit.

Vestmannaeyjar

The Westman Islands remain one of Iceland’s more underrated honeymoon destinations. Couples usually visit for puffin colonies, dramatic sea cliffs, volcanic landscapes, and quieter coastal stays.

The ferry ride itself becomes part of the experience, especially during calmer summer months.

Romantic Things to Do in Iceland

Iceland honeymoon packages offer far more than just sightseeing. From chasing the Northern Lights and relaxing in a romantic geothermal lagoon to hiking on glaciers and spotting whales in the wild with your partner, the country is packed with unforgettable experiences. Whether you're visiting in summer or winter, there are a lot of activities to suit every type of traveller. Here are the top things to do in Iceland.

Soak in the Blue Lagoon

A Blue Lagoon session usually becomes one of the defining moments of an Icelandic honeymoon. The geothermal water remains naturally warm throughout the year, even during snowy winter evenings.

Many couples choose sunrise or late-evening slots because the lagoon feels less crowded during those hours.

Chase the Northern Lights

Between October and March, Iceland becomes one of the best destinations in the world for viewing the Aurora Borealis. Couples usually drive away from city lights or join guided Northern Lights tours for clearer visibility.

One thing worth knowing is that sightings are never guaranteed. The experience depends heavily on weather conditions and cloud cover. Rahul Shetty, one of our verified travellers from Bangalore, who booked the Northern Nordic Wonders | Romance Amidst Finland & Iceland package, shared in April 2026 that "Northern lights over Iceland was on my bucket list for ten years, finally ticked off, and it exceeded every expectation. The waterfalls and black sand beaches during the day were equally jaw-dropping.”

Hike Reykjadalur Hot Spring Valley

Reykjadalur offers one of Iceland’s most rewarding free experiences. The trail leads through steaming valleys and geothermal landscapes before ending at a naturally heated river where travellers can bathe outdoors.

The hike usually takes around 2 to 3 hours round-trip and feels especially beautiful during summer evenings.

Experience Icelandic Cuisine Together

Icelandic food culture feels surprisingly minimal yet memorable. Couples usually try seafood soups, lamb dishes, rye bread, skyr, and Iceland’s famous hot dogs during their stay.

Reykjavik also has intimate Nordic restaurants that work very well for honeymoon dinners, especially during winter.

Explore Ice Caves

Ice cave tours inside Vatnajökull glaciers are usually available between October and March when conditions become stable enough for guided access.

The blue ice formations inside these caves feel almost unreal in photographs, but the actual experience tends to feel even more dramatic in person because of the silence and scale.

Go Whale Watching

Whale watching tours operate mainly between April and October, with Husavik and Reykjavik being the most common departure points.

Humpback whales, minke whales, and occasionally blue whales can be spotted depending on the season.

Iceland Safety Tips for Indian Travellers

Iceland is one of the safest countries in the world for a honeymoon. Siddharth Iyer, one of our verified travellers from Chennai who booked the Iceland Wonders with FREE Vatnajokull Glacier Crystal Ice Cave Tour package, shared in March 2026 that, “Iceland is a very clean and peaceful country with stunning natural beauty. The overall environment feels calm and safe, making it perfect for a relaxing holiday. It may not be very lively, but that’s exactly what makes it so special and unique.”

Most couples' risks are related to natural conditions rather than crime, so following local safety guidelines is important.

  • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach: Sneaker waves at Reynisfjara Beach near Vik can arrive suddenly, even when the sea appears calm. So, it is advised to stay well away from the waterline and never turn your back on the ocean.
  • Check the Weather Daily: Iceland's weather can change quickly throughout the day. Strong winds and low temperatures are common, even during summer, so check local weather forecasts regularly before heading out for outdoor activities.
  • Follow F-Road Driving Rules: Mountain F-roads are generally open only during summer and require a 4WD vehicle for travelling. Standard rental cars are not permitted on these roads.
  • Stay on Designated Roads: When searching for the Northern Lights or exploring remote areas, avoid driving off marked roads. Off-road driving is illegal and can damage Iceland's fragile natural landscape.
  • Monitor Volcanic Activity Updates: Parts of the Reykjanes Peninsula experience periodic volcanic activity. Check official updates from Iceland Civil Protection before and during your trip.
  • Save Emergency Information: The emergency number in Iceland is 112. Download the 112 Iceland app before your trip, as it allows emergency services to locate you quickly if assistance is needed.

Why choose Thrillophilia for Iceland honeymoon packages?

Planning Iceland independently often looks easier online than it actually is. Distances are long, weather changes rapidly, and route timing becomes extremely important during both summer and winter. Karan Mehta, one of our verified travellers from Chandigarh who booked the Scandinavia Classic with FREE Fjord Cruise Ride package, shared in March 2026 that, “Landing in Norway felt like entering a postcard. Travelling from Chandigarh, I was instantly struck by the crisp air and dramatic scenery all around. I booked this trip through Thrillophilia, and the arrangements were smooth and well-managed. The fjord cruise was calm and scenic, and seeing the northern lights dancing in the sky was something I’ll never forget. Everything from stays to travel was perfectly organised."

  • Thrillophilia itineraries are planned around realistic Iceland travel timings and seasonal conditions.
  • Couples receive curated stays, activity coordination, and route assistance throughout the journey.
  • We help honeymooners balance adventure experiences with slower scenic days instead of overpacking the itinerary.
  • Packages are available for both Northern Lights-focused winter trips and Midnight Sun summer journeys.
  • Our Iceland routes also minimise unnecessary backtracking across long-distance drives.

A wonderful Scandinavian combination that let us experience both Finland and Iceland in a single itinerary. The contrast between Finland's forest silence and Iceland's volcanic drama was remarkable. The Northern Lights viewing sessions were well-organised and our guide knew exactly how to read the forecast. A minor logistical delay at one airport but it was handled gracefully by the team.

April is the tail end of aurora season in Iceland and we were lucky to catch one strong display near Vik on Night 3. The glacier lagoon at Jokulsarlon had large icebergs floating toward the black sand beach which looked completely unreal. Seljalandsfoss waterfall you can walk behind was one of those experiences that photographs genuinely cannot capture. Thrillophilia had built flexibility into the itinerary to account for Iceland's unpredictable weather which turned out to be a good call on two of the days. Solo trip and not a single moment felt disorganised or unsafe.
