We had 1st trip with thrillophilia tour company and it was amazing and excellent experience. Everything on time also they responded right away and helped.
We had the most incredible experience working with Akshat and Mrigendra. From start to finish, they went above and beyond to make our journey through South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia absolutely seamless. Every detail was thoughtfully planned — from breathtaking safari lodges to smooth transfers and unique, authentic local experiences we never could have found on our own.
What truly set them apart was their flexibility and genuine care. Our plans shifted a few times along the way, and they handled every change with patience, creativity, and a smile, making sure we always had the best possible experience. Their deep knowledge of the region a... Read More

South Africa Reviews By Departure City
Reviews from verified travellers who booked their South Africa tour packages from different cities across India
Africa Safari was just amazing. We had always said we would go for a milestone occasion and we are so glad we did. The Serengeti sunrise from the tent, coffee in hand, watching the sky turn pink over the acacia trees. We look at that photo on our wall every day. Worth every penny.
Masai Mara safari through Thrillophilia was the most extraordinary trip of our lives. Thrillophilia handled yellow fever guidance, Nairobi transit and every internal connection. Not one thing went wrong in the whole trip. Will go back for the Great Migration.
Kenya had been on our list for a long time, and going with Thrillophilia turned out to be a great call.
The whole trip had a very different vibe compared to our usual vacations early morning safaris, long drives through raw landscapes, and that excitement of not knowing what you’ll spot next. Masai Mara was easily the highlight. Watching animals in the wild, especially during game drives, is something you can’t really describe until you experience it.
The stays were more about the experience than just comfort being so close to nature was actually the best part. Even simple moments like sitting outside and soaking in the surroundings felt s... Read More
Maasai Mara game drive was the most thrilling morning of my life saw four of the Big Five before breakfast.
The camp stays were comfortable and the whole South Africa Kenya circuit was handled extremely well.
South African romantic getaway was genuinely one of the best trips we've taken as a couple.
Cape Point, Boulders Beach penguins, Stellenbosch winelands and the Garden Route all in one package.
Every day brought something completely different and the resort in Cape Town had an ocean view worth waking up for.
Would strongly recommend this to any couple looking for a destination that combines adventure with luxury.
South Africa on a budget was honestly far better than I expected - the experiences did not feel budget at all.
Kruger National Park safari, Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula and Stellenbosch wine tasting all delivered.
Accommodation was clean and well located even if not luxurious - a very fair trade-off for the price paid.
The country itself is so visually diverse that every single day looked completely different from the last.
Would absolutely go back and explore the Garden Route more thoroughly next time.
We booked a South Africa romantic trip through Thrillophilia after considering a few other operators. The itinerary they put together was more thoughtful than others we had seen. Table Mountain, Cape Point, Boulders Beach penguins, Stellenbosch wine tasting and Robben Island in one week. Our local guide in Cape Town had a very personal connection to the city's history and made Robben Island a genuinely moving experience rather than just a tourist stop. The shark cage dive at Gansbaai on Day 5 was arranged by Thrillophilia at short notice when we asked about it and went perfectly. Very satisfied overall and already discussing the next destinat... South Africa on a budget does not mean compromising on the essential wildlife and landscape experiences, and this itinerary proved that well. Table Mountain, the Boulders Beach penguins, and the Cape of Good Hope were all covered. The Winelands day was a lovely addition. A few group accommodation options were simpler than advertised but the experiences themselves were excellent value.
Africa trip full paisa vasool, ekdum bucket list completed! Sun City resort was a gorgeous surprise bonus on this package. Big Five sightings within the first two days was honestly unbelievable luck. Ekdum professional safari guides who made every game drive exciting. The scale of African landscapes is something Indian mountains simply cannot prepare you for!

How to Reach South Africa from India
There are no direct flights operating between India and South Africa, as of June 2026. All routes involve one connection or layover stop, generally through the Middle East or East Africa.
Flying into Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo International)
Johannesburg is the main entry point for travellers planning a safari or visiting Kruger National Park before heading to Cape Town. Most flights from India connect through cities like Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa, or Nairobi while travelling to South Africa. The total travel time is usually around 14 to 18 hours, including layovers.
Flying into Cape Town (Cape Town International)
Cape Town is a great starting point for South Africa tours focused on the city, Garden Route, and Winelands. Most flights from India connect through cities like Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa, or Nairobi.
Note: If you're visiting both Cape Town and Johannesburg, it's recommended to arrive in Cape Town and fly home from Johannesburg. This saves time and avoids exhaustion.
Economy Return Fare Ranges from India (June 2026)
• Budget: INR 55,000 to 90,000 per person
• Mid-range: INR 90,000 to 1,30,000 per person
• Premium / Business Class: INR 1,30,000+
Note: Safari lodges and popular routes can sell out quickly during peak wildlife season, so booking at least 45–60 days in advance is recommended.
South Africa Visa for Indian Travellers
Travellers booking holiday packages in South Africa should ensure their visa requirements are completed well before departure, especially during peak travel periods. Indian travellers need a valid visa to visit South Africa. The application process varies depending on your entry point and preferred application method.
Option 1 - The new ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation)
If you're flying into Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Lanseria, you can apply for a South Africa ETA online. The entire process is completed digitally, including uploading your passport details, photo, and application form. No embassy visit or document submission is needed.
The ETA is usually processed within 1 to 3 days and allows stays of up to 90 days. To avoid delays, it's best to apply 2 to 3 weeks before your trip.
Note: The ETA is currently available only for travellers arriving by air through these airports. If you're entering South Africa through another airport or border crossing, you may need to apply for an eVisa or a regular visa instead.
Option 2 - eVisa (online, Department of Home Affairs portal)
The eVisa can be applied online through South Africa's official visa portal. It is a good alternative if the ETA is not applicable for your travel plans.
Processing usually takes 3 to 7 working days, so it is recommended to apply well before your travel date. While the eVisa is convenient to apply, processing can take longer than it does for the ETA.
Option 3 - Traditional visa via VFS Global
You can also apply for a South Africa visa through a VFS Global Visa Application Centre by submitting your documents in person. Walk-in applications are usually accepted, but booking an appointment is recommended during busy travel periods.
Indian travellers do not have to pay a visa fee for a short-stay tourist visa. However, VFS charges a service fee of approximately INR 2,000 to INR 2,500, plus a small convenience fee.
VFS centres are available in major Indian cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
Documents Required (All Three Routes)
• Passport valid for at least 30 days beyond your South Africa departure date, with two blank pages
• Completed application form (Form DHA-84 for VFS route)
• Confirmed return flights
• Hotel bookings for the full duration of the trip
• Three months of bank statements, stamped and signed by your bank
• A cover letter explaining your travel purpose
• Two recent passport-size photographs of 35mm x 45mm on a white background (VFS route only)
Traveller Insight: If you are travelling through or arriving from a country where yellow fever is present, you must carry a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. Check the latest requirements before your trip.
When to Apply
For the VFS route, apply at least 60 days before travel. The full cycle from submission to passport return can take 4 to 6 weeks during busy periods (May to September and December to January). For ETA or eVisa, a 2 to 3 week buffer before travel is generally sufficient.
Thrillophilia Visa Assistance: We provide guidance and assistance with visa documentation, including hotel confirmations, itinerary details, and supporting paperwork to help make the application process smoother. Visa approvals are subject to the decision of the South African authorities.

South Africa Tour Packages by Duration
6 Days - Cape Town Focus
Best for travellers with limited leave who want to experience one strong destination properly rather than several destinations poorly. Cape Town rewards extra time: travellers who give it fewer than three nights rarely feel they have seen the city properly.
• Day 1-2: Arrive Cape Town. Table Mountain cable car or Platteklip Gorge hike (approx. INR 1,500-2,000 per person for cableway), V&A Waterfront, Robben Island ferry from the Waterfront (book in advance, daily numbers are capped)
• Day 3: Cape Peninsula drive. Boulders Beach penguin colony near Simon's Town, Cape of Good Hope
• Day 4-5: Winelands day trip to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, or whale coast excursion to Hermanus
The strongest first South Africa trip from India. generally structured as 3-4 nights in Cape Town followed by 3 nights at Kruger or a comparable wildlife destination, with an internal flight between them. Travellers consistently note this combination delivers the most complete sense of the country within a manageable window. Starts from INR 1,60,000 per person (land only).
• Day 1-4: Cape Town. Table Mountain, Cape Peninsula, Robben Island, optional Winelands day
• Day 4: Internal flight to Johannesburg or Hoedspruit for Kruger access
• Day 5-7: Kruger National Park or adjacent private reserve. Morning and evening game drives. Southern and central sections around Skukuza and Lower Sabie are most reliable for Big Five sightings
Best for coast, scenic drives, and slower nature-led travel. Allows enough time to self-drive or be guided through the 300-kilometre route from Mossel Bay to Storms River without feeling rushed. Works well for couples and families who prioritise landscapes over wildlife density.
Day 1–3: Cape Town – Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront, Cape Peninsula, Boulders Beach
Day 4: Drive to Hermanus via the scenic coastal route (whale watching in season) and continue to Knysna or Plettenberg Bay
Day 5: Knysna Lagoon, Knysna Heads, Featherbed Nature Reserve
Day 6: Plettenberg Bay, Robberg Nature Reserve, beaches and wildlife encounters
Day 7: Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River activities
Day 8: Addo Elephant National Park safari or Oudtshoorn (Cango Caves and ostrich farms)
Day 9: Return to Cape Town or fly from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)
The ideal season for South Africa packages depends on whether you want to prioritise safaris, whale watching, wine regions, or coastal sightseeing.
November to March: Best for Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, and coastal travel. Expect warm weather and ideal beach conditions. December and January are the busiest months, so accommodation and popular attractions should be booked well in advance.
May to September: Best for safaris in Kruger National Park and other wildlife reserves. Dry conditions make animals easier to spot as they gather around water sources. Early mornings can be very cold, especially in June and July.
June to November: Best for whale watching in Hermanus. Southern right whales visit Walker Bay during this period, with the highest number of sightings happening between August and October.
March to May and September to October: Best for travellers seeking good weather, fewer crowds, and better value. These shoulder seasons offer a balance of comfortable conditions in Cape Town and favourable wildlife viewing opportunities. September and October offer pleasant weather, great whale watching, and excellent safari experiences.
Common Planning Mistakes Indian Travellers Make
Based on traveller experiences and customer feedback, these are some of the most common mistakes people make when planning a South Africa trip.
1. Trying to Cover Too Much in One Trip
South Africa is a large country, and travel distances can be longer than they appear. Trying to fit Cape Town, the Garden Route, Kruger, Durban, and Johannesburg into a short trip often leaves very little time to enjoy each destination. It is usually better to focus on fewer places and explore them properly.
2. Treating Kruger as a Quick Add-On
Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s largest wildlife reserves. A short visit is rarely enough to experience it fully. Plan at least two nights in or near the park to enjoy multiple game drives and improve your chances of seeing the Big Five.
3. Planning Around the Season Before Choosing the Route
Different parts of South Africa are best at different times of the year. Cape Town is most popular in summer, safari conditions are often best during the dry season, and whale watching follows its own seasonal pattern. Choose the destinations you want to visit first, then decide the best time to travel.
4. Underestimating Travel and Local Logistics
Getting between destinations can take time, especially when flights, transfers, and long drives are involved. Allow enough time in your South Africa tours so that travel days do not become rushed or stressful.
5. Ignoring How Much the Route Affects the Budget
The overall cost of a South Africa trip can vary greatly depending on your route. Domestic flights between Cape Town and Johannesburg can cost around INR 8,000–18,000 per person each way, while private safari lodges are often much more expensive than public camps. Safari stays, and internal flights usually have the biggest impact on trip costs.
Food and Practical Tips for Indian Travellers in South Africa
Indian Food and Vegetarian Options
Indian food is easy to find in major cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. Durban has a large Indian community and is famous for its local speciality, bunny chow, which is a bread loaf filled with curry.
Popular Indian restaurants include:
Bombay Brasserie (Cape Town)
Shamani Indian Cuisine (Cape Town)
Thava Indian Restaurant (Johannesburg)
Vegetarian food is widely available in cities and tourist areas. However, options at remote safari lodges may be more limited, so it is best to inform the lodge of your dietary preferences in advance.
For Jain travellers: Share your dietary requirements at the time of booking so hotels and lodges can prepare accordingly.
Practical Tips
Carry warm clothing for early morning safari drives, especially during winter (June–August).
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but carrying some cash is useful for smaller towns and local purchases.
Always follow beach safety flags and lifeguard instructions when swimming.
Avoid walking alone late at night in unfamiliar city areas.
Carry mosquito repellent if visiting Kruger National Park or other northern safari regions.
Download offline maps before driving through remote areas with limited mobile coverage.
South Africa uses Type M power sockets (230V). A universal travel adapter is recommended.
Local SIM cards from Vodacom and MTN are available at major airports and offer more affordable data than international roaming.
The local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). Carry some cash for rural areas and smaller stops along the Garden Route.
What Travellers Say About Their South Africa Trip with Thrillophilia
Read genuine reviews and experiences shared by travellers who visited South Africa with Thrillophilia.
I booked my South Africa tour through Thrillophilia and was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail. The itinerary covered all the major landmarks without feeling too rushed. I especially loved the visit to Robben Island; it was a very moving experience. The guides were friendly, and the transport was very comfortable. Rating: 5/5
We booked our trip through Thrillophilia and were very happy with the itinerary. The stay at the luxury lodge was the highlight of our vacation. Seeing the Big Five in the wild was truly an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Naman Mehta, was very professional and made sure we were safe while also helping us get the best wildlife views. The friendly locals and delicious food made the trip even more enjoyable.
The most useful guidance we got was that safari mornings would be far colder than we expected. Everyone thinks of Africa as hot. Kruger at sunrise was cold enough that our kids needed jackets and gloves. That note sounds small, but it changed how comfortable the trip felt.

Are vegetarian and Indian food options easily available in South Africa?
Yes. Indian restaurants and vegetarian dining options are widely available in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. Many hotels and safari lodges can also accommodate vegetarian dietary requirements when informed in advance. Are there direct flights from India to South Africa?
As of June 2026, there are no direct flights between India and South Africa. Most routes involve one stop in cities such as Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa, or Nairobi. Total travel time usually ranges between 14 and 18 hours, depending on the connection.
Can South Africa be combined with other destinations?
Yes. South Africa pairs well with destinations such as Seychelles, Kenya, Mauritius, Victoria Falls, and Dubai. Many travellers choose to combine a safari holiday with a beach or city destination for a more diverse international vacation experience.
Should I book a guided package or travel independently?
Both options work well. Self-drive travel is popular in Cape Town and along the Garden Route due to excellent roads and clear signage. However, first-time visitors often prefer a professionally planned package that combines accommodation, transfers, safaris, and logistics into a seamless itinerary, allowing them to focus on the experience rather than trip planning.
How much does a South Africa trip cost from India?
South Africa tour packages start from approximately INR 99,990 per person for a 6-day Cape Town itinerary (land package). An 8-10 day trip combining Cape Town and a safari starts from INR 1,20,300 per person. International flights usually add INR 55,000–1,30,000 per person, depending on the season and departure city. Safari lodge category and internal flights are the biggest factors affecting the overall trip cost.
How far in advance should I book a South Africa trip?
For travel during peak safari season (May–September) or Cape Town's summer season (December–January), booking at least 3–4 months in advance is recommended. This helps secure better availability at popular safari lodges, hotels, and flight routes.
