Accommodation per night

INR 2,000–4,000

INR 6,000–10,000

INR 15,000–30,000+

For economical stays, search for accommodations on the West Bank of Luxor. The hotels located here are cheap, away from the crowd, and provide closer proximity to the Valley of the Kings.

Meals per day

INR 1,000–1,700

INR 2,500–4,500

INR 6,000–10,000+

If you’re a budget-conscious traveller, avoid eating from restaurants near tourist hubs or monuments as they tend to overcharge. Seek out local diners serving koshari and shawarma for filling, yet economical meals.

Internal transport

INR 800–1,700

INR 2,000–4,000

INR 5,000–10,000+

Most destinations within Egypt are spaced widely over the country. The internal transfers, therefore, become a major cost driver for most Egypt trips

Activities and entry

INR 1,000–2,000

INR 3,000–6,000

INR 6,000–15,000+

Never pay the first asking price for activities like felucca rides on the Nile, camel riding, and desert quad biking, as they’re highly negotiable.

What Makes Egypt Package Prices Go Up or Down

Some factors can significantly increase or reduce the overall cost of your Egypt tour. Here are the key elements that affect package pricing:

  • Internal Transport: Internal transfers account for a significant portion of your Egypt trip cost, as major destinations such as Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel are spread across the country.
  • Accommodation Location: Hotels on Luxor's West Bank are generally more affordable, quieter, and closer to attractions like the Valley of the Kings. Stays in popular areas such as the East Bank and Downtown Cairo usually come at a higher cost.
  • Travel Season: October to April is the most popular travel period in Egypt, resulting in higher hotel and flight prices. The summer months offer better deals but come with extremely high temperatures.
  • Attractions and Experiences: Nile cruises are often the biggest non-flight expense for most travellers. Additional experiences such as felucca rides, camel rides, desert safaris, and diving tours can further increase the overall trip cost.

Top Experiences to Include in Egypt Tours from India

Egypt offers a mix of ancient history, beautiful landscapes, and unique activities, making it an exciting destination for travelers from India. Here are some of the top experiences to include in your Egypt tour.

Visiting the Great Sphinx of Giza: The Great Sphinx is one of the most mysterious figures in Egypt. With the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, the reason for its existence still remains a major question for historians. Set against the desert backdrop, you can explore the outer complex of this limestone statue while a local expert helps you understand its significance in Egyptian culture. As one of the most famous structures in the country, it attracts tourists from all over the world who come for a glimpse of this iconic monument.

Entry to The Great Sphinx: The general entry is included in the Giza Pyramids Plateau Ticket (INR 1,400). Half-day guided tours for the Sphinx and the Pyramids start at INR 1,300.

Scuba Diving at Hurghada: Hurghada, located on the coast of the Red Sea, is known for its unique diving spots. Filled with corals and marine life, you will also find ancient Egyptian wrecks and relics amongst the brightly coloured fish alongside you. This very combination makes Hurghada one of the most favoured attractions on the Red Sea circuit, especially for travellers visiting in the hot season.

Price Range for Diving: Ranges between INR 6,500 and INR 10,000 per person for beginners, consisting of 1-2 dives along with equipment and a guide. Certified divers get cheaper deals starting at INR 3,000 for a 1-2 dive boat trip per person. The prices vary based on season, number of dives, expertise level, and inclusions.

Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum: Located in the heart of Cairo, this museum is proof of Egypt’s historically rich culture. From mummies and relics to the treasure of King Tutankhamun, if you truly want to understand Egypt rather than just see it, this is something you have to explore without rushing through.

Museum Entry Fee: INR 2,160-2,400 per adult, including admission to the Grand Hall, Glass Court, and commercial area.

Felucca Ride through the Nile: A felucca ride is a traditional Egyptian sailing experience on the Nile River. As you sail along, you can enjoy views of palm trees, ancient temples, and local fishermen. Early morning rides are especially popular because of the peaceful atmosphere, fewer crowds, and beautiful sunrise reflecting on the water.

Felucca Ride Cost: 1-hour private felucca rides range between INR 700 and INR 2,000 per person. The prices change depending on duration, inclusions, and season.

Take a Boat Ride on Lake Qarun: Within the Faiyum Oasis, Lake Qarun is especially valued by birdwatchers and travellers seeking quieter experiences. The lake is well known for its rich birdlife, including flamingos, pelicans, and various shorebirds. It also offers beautiful sunset views and is a great place to relax away from the busy cities of Egypt. If you're on your honeymoon, try booking a private sunset boat ride for a special experience.

Boat Ride Cost: INR 2,900-4,200 for 1-3-hour rides. The cost further changes depending on duration and season throughout the year.

Shop at Khan El Khalili Bazaar: This is where you will find all the souvenirs that you’d bring back home from your trip. The bazaar itself dates back to the 14th century, and with a maze of alleys, it sells traditional Egyptian handicrafts, spices, perfumes, and even gold. If you haggle just right, you will find many unique souvenirs at an affordable price. This is also a great place to taste local food at coffeehouses or from street vendors.

Average Souvenir Shopping Cost: Indians spend around INR 1,000-5,000 for a mix of souvenirs. Haggle hard with the vendors because the initial rates are usually inflated for foreigners.

Cairo Opera House: From classic operas and ballets to modern theatrical productions, this opera house, located in the Zamalek district, is a symbol of the rich Egyptian culture. If you love art or simply want to enjoy the Egyptian social atmosphere, book a ticket for the latest opera show during your Egypt trip.

The museum shows the hard work and dedication of conservation experts who help protect Egypt’s history, ensuring it can be enjoyed by future generations, just like the famous pyramids.

Karnak Open-Air Museum Entry Fee: Entry to the Karnak Temple Complex is INR 1,000-1,100 per adult. The museum often requires an additional ticket of INR 100-200 per adult.

Best Time to Visit Egypt from India

While most Indian travellers prefer visiting Egypt during the cooler months, 2026 has seen a 32% increase in travellers choosing the shoulder season. According to Thrillophilia’s Quarterly Booking Data Review 2026, lower prices and fewer crowds are the main reasons behind this growing trend.

October to March

This is the peak travel season in Egypt. The weather is cool, dry, and comfortable, with temperatures of 15°C–25°C in Cairo and Alexandria, and 18°C–30°C in Luxor and Aswan. The pleasant weather makes it ideal for long outdoor sightseeing days and covering most of Egypt’s attractions. Due to high demand, flight and accommodation prices are usually higher during this time. We recommend booking your trip at least 3-4 months in advance.

Best for: Outdoor-heavy itineraries, first-timers, photography, families, and groups

Avoid if: You are a budget-conscious traveller or dislike crowded places.

April and September

With Cairo’s temperature being 25°C-35°C and Luxor/Aswan being 30°C-38°C, this is when heat starts to affect your outdoor plans. The best strategy for this time is to start early and take small breaks throughout the journey. This will help you to keep going without tiring out. Flights and hotels during this time offer good deals with minimal crowds.

Best for: Balanced itineraries, solo travellers, and backpackers

Avoid if: You are heat-sensitive, prefer slow-paced travelling, or have all-day outdoor exploration plans.

May to August

This window sees extreme heat in all the inland sites. Cairo sees temperatures in the range of 30°C-40°C, while for Luxor/Aswan, it’s 40°C-45°C and higher. If you plan on visiting during this time, you get the cheapest deals of the year, with the traveller count being low. However, your sightseeing window gets limited to just early morning hours. After that, the strong heat becomes unsuitable for sightseeing, especially if you’re travelling with family. We recommend focusing on the Red Sea circuit during this window and planning sunrise-focused monument visits.

Best for: Budget-conscious travellers and travellers comfortable with heat

Avoid if: You are a first-timer, travelling with family, planning an outdoor-heavy itinerary, or prefer a slow-paced trip.

Thrillophilia Insights

  • Cruises between Luxor and Aswan remain in high demand during the cool season, as the comfortable weather draws travellers looking to experience a Nile cruise. If you want to avoid the peak pricing during this period, it is best to book at least 2–3 months in advance.
  • If you are visiting in the cool season, focus more on monuments such as Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. If you are travelling in the hot season, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh become better choices. The dry inland desert heat reaches its peak during summer, while the Red Sea circuit stays relatively cooler, making it ideal for cruises and resort stays. Each season offers trade-offs, so the itinerary should be planned accordingly.
  • Heat usually starts building after 9–10 am, and tour buses reach peak crowd levels by midday. For major attractions, always aim for early morning slots. The light is ideal for photography, with clearer visuals and fewer crowds. Midday sightseeing often becomes rushed and less comfortable.

Common Planning Mistakes that Indian Travellers Make

After operating over 2000 Egypt tours, rated 4.7/5 by verified travellers, and collaborating with local experts for their insights and expertise, we understand how to avoid any planning mistakes and to prepare for unforeseeable ones. We consider everything and plan accordingly with real-time data before your departure so that no last-minute issues affect your experience.

Here are all the common mistakes that Indian travellers tend to make and how Thrillophilia handles them.

Mistake: Trying to cover Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan on a 7-day trip

Why It Is a Mistake: Egypt is geographically vast, and travelling from one region to another often requires internal flights or long road journeys. Not accounting for travel time and its effect on your energy can lead to wasted and exhausting days.

Thrillophilia’s Approach: Our shorter-duration packages prioritise Cairo, Luxor, and Alexandria because most of Egypt’s major attractions are located across these regions and fall along a more practical route. The Alexandria and Red Sea route is recommended only when you have 10–12 days to travel. Otherwise, you may risk exhausting yourself before the trip is over.

Mistake: Underestimating the heat and not starting early

Why It Is a Mistake: Heat in Egypt, especially between May and August, can reach 45°C. Most attractions are located in open areas with little shade, and temperatures rise quickly after 9 AM. If not taken seriously, this can lead to heat stroke, sunstroke, fever, and exhaustion, affecting the rest of your trip.

Thrillophilia’s Approach: For travellers visiting during the hotter months, we design balanced itineraries where outdoor activities are planned in the morning, usually completed by 10 AM. Afternoons focus on indoor experiences or shaded spaces such as food walks, restaurants, and shopping. Leisurely outdoor activities are then planned for the evening when temperatures are lower and conditions are more comfortable.

Mistake: Relying on blog posts for visa rules and regulations

Why It Is a Mistake: Visa rules for Indian passport holders can change frequently. Depending only on blogs that may be outdated, without verifying through the official Egypt visa application website, is a common mistake that can create problems at the airport.

Thrillophilia’s Approach: Every Thrillophilia Egypt package includes visa guidance. This means we assist you through the visa process, from document requirements to filling out and submitting the application. Our guidance is based on updated regulations, and we cross-check everything against officially published rules to avoid last-minute hassles.

Mistake: Not understanding your package inclusions

Why It Is a Mistake: Not all packages include flights, cruises, or every experience. Each package is designed around different traveller types and budgets, so inclusions vary accordingly. Not checking them in advance can lead to false expectations and unexpected costs after arrival.

Thrillophilia’s Approach: Every detail of your trip is first discussed with you. We note your preferences and check availability for hotels, tours, cruises, and flights based on your requirements, and only then proceed with bookings. Once confirmed, we provide a detailed itinerary and receipt. Our team also explains exactly how your funds are allocated and what is included or excluded, ensuring full transparency for both sides.

Practical Food Tips for Indian Travellers in Egypt

Egyptian food is generally rich in carbohydrates and often includes legumes, lentils, and grains. Many dishes are slow-cooked, and vegetarian options are available, although the variety may be limited. Here are some simple tips to help Indian travellers choose food during their Egypt trip.

  • Learn simple Arabic phrases such as "ana nabaty" (I am a vegetarian – male version) and "ana nabateya" (female version). For extra clarity, you can also say "Ana ma-bakolsh lahma" (I don’t eat meat).
  • Cairo and Luxor consist of a good number of vegetarian restaurants. In rural areas, however, finding purely vegetarian places can be difficult. It is helpful to speak to your hotel in advance and arrange simple vegetarian food, such as bread, fruits, or beans, to carry during travel.
  • Many dishes are prepared using meat stock. If you are a vegetarian, clearly mention your preference in restaurants by saying "No meat, no fish, no chicken" and choose simpler dishes whenever possible.
  • Jain food is more difficult to find than vegan food, as many dishes commonly include garlic and onions.

Common Vegetarian Egyptian Dishes

Koshari: Rice, lentils, pasta, chickpeas, and tomato sauce. It is widely available, filling, and affordable.

Falafel (Ta’ameya): Made from fava beans and available with a variety of vegetarian fillings.

Ful Medames: Slow-cooked fava beans that are a breakfast staple for many locals.

Fresh Breads (Aish Baladi): Filling and carb-rich breads that help maintain energy during sightseeing.

Indian Restaurants in Egypt

Cairo: Namaste Indian Restaurant, Maharaja El-Zamalek, Le Pacha 1901

Luxor: A Taste of India, Aisha Restaurant Luxor, SunRise Bar & Restaurant Luxor

Aswan: Makani Restaurant, Saraya

All of these restaurants offer Indian meal options and can accommodate vegetarian preferences when informed in advance.

Egypt Safety Advisory 2026

Egypt is generally considered to be safe and traveller-friendly on the main tourist routes. Cities like Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Hurghada are heavily monitored for tourist safety. With some basic precautions and advisories, you’d be able to comfortably travel throughout the country. Here’s everything you need to be mindful of on your Egypt tour from India.

  • Restricted Areas: The North Sinai Peninsula, border areas near Libya and Sudan, and parts of the Western Desert are restricted to travellers. This is because these zones are bases for military operations. Stick strictly to the traveller-friendly areas.
  • Road Safety: Areas in Cairo, like the Giza plateau, markets, and bazaars, are chaotic with rough driving conditions. Exercise extra caution while crossing roads.
  • Women Traveller Safety: Although generally safe, women may face unwanted situations, particularly in rural areas. Thrillophilia always ensures your safety by providing verified local guides and vehicles that are always at your disposal should you need them to avoid any adverse situation.
  • Photography Restrictions: Photographing the military, police, or government buildings is strictly prohibited and can lead to arrest upon repeated offence.
  • Sunstroke Risk: May to August is the peak hot window. If you’re travelling during this season, make sure to carry sunglasses, large-brimmed hats, and 50+ SPF sunscreen. ORS is highly effective in preventing heat stroke. Carry lots of water and stay hydrated throughout the sightseeing tours. If you feel uneasy, immediately notify us and inform your guide.

Egypt Travel Essentials for Indian Travellers

Before planning your Egypt trip, here are some essential travel tips and practical information every Indian traveller should know.

Currency & Payments

  • The official Egyptian currency is the Egyptian Pound, commonly written as EGP, LE, and £E. As of June 2026, 1 EGP equals 1.84 INR and is subject to change.
  • We recommend splitting your finances across cards and cash, with 60–70% via international credit/debit card and 30–40% in cash.
  • While cards are widely accepted in hotels, Nile cruises, airports, major museums, malls, and larger restaurants, carry cash for markets, taxis, local cafes, and tips for easy transactions.

SIM & Connectivity

  • Compared to international roaming, a local SIM is more economical and provides better network connectivity, especially for navigation, cab apps, translations, and accessing digital tickets.
  • Airport SIMs provide you with immediate connectivity with easy set-up rules and are the best option for first-time travellers.
  • Cairo and Giza have excellent network coverage, while Luxor and Aswan may experience patchy network connectivity in some areas.

Packing by Season

  • December–February (Winter): Light to medium layers, comfortable walking shoes, scarf or shawl, sunglasses, and hat or cap.
  • March–May (Spring): Lightweight and breathable fabrics, a light jacket for evenings, and a scarf for dusty conditions
  • June–September (Summer): Cotton clothes, swimwear, high SPF sunscreen, and sandals
  • October–November (Autumn): Lightweight clothing, breathable fabrics, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • Year-round Essentials: Travel documents, modest clothing for religious sites, power bank, universal power adapter, and basic medications

It was our first international trip and we are so grateful to Thrillophilia for making it such a special experience. Egypt was a bold choice for a first timer but the team gave us full confidence. Our tour manager gave us detailed information the evening before every sightseeing day what to expect, what to carry, timing details all shared on WhatsApp as well. We never felt confused or unprepared at any point. Big thanks to the entire Thrillophilia team. Will plan our next international trip with them only.

We had an Egyptologist guide for the Luxor and Aswan sections arranged by Thrillophilia and that made an enormous difference to how we experienced the temples. Abu Simbel required an early morning flight which the team had pre-arranged without us having to figure out the domestic connection. The Nile cruise between cities was a comfortable and beautiful way to travel. Well thought-out itinerary from start to finish. Romba nalla experience for the whole family.

Egypt is not what I expected it is so much more. The scale of the pyramids in person is genuinely overwhelming. Nile cruise was relaxing and the temple visits were staggered well throughout the day. Travelling to Egypt with my friends group was something we had been planning for a while, and this package made the whole process simple. The mix of Cairo's history and Hurghada's beaches worked really well for our group as we got temples, the Nile, and snorkelling in the Red Sea all in one trip. Thrillophilia handled the coordination really well, which matters a lot when you are travelling in a group.

Egypt Tour faqs

Is Abu Simbel worth it?

Abu Simbel is widely regarded as one of Egypt’s most impressive archaeological sites and is well worth the journey. Early departures are recommended to avoid the heat and crowds while enjoying the temples at their most photogenic.

Are internal flights reliable?

Domestic flights are a dependable way to travel between major Egyptian cities and are commonly used by tourists. While occasional delays may occur, they remain one of the fastest and most convenient options for covering long distances.

How much does an Egypt trip cost from India?

The total cost depends on travel season, accommodation category, flight fares, and experiences included. Budget trips typically start around INR 70,000–90,000 per person, while mid-range holidays often range between INR 1,00,000–1,80,000. Luxury itineraries can exceed INR 2,50,000 per person.

Is photography allowed in Egypt?

Photography is permitted at most tourist attractions, although some museum galleries and tomb interiors have restrictions. Travellers should avoid photographing military, police, and government facilities, as this is prohibited by law.

How early should I book a Nile cruise?

For travel between October and March, booking at least 2–3 months in advance is recommended due to high demand. During shoulder seasons, reservations made 2–4 weeks before departure are often sufficient.

Are entry tickets for attractions in Egypt expensive?

Most major attractions charge between INR 500 and INR 1,500 per person, depending on the site. Travellers should budget approximately INR 8,000–15,000 for attraction tickets across a typical Egypt itinerary.

Is Egypt safe for Indian travellers?

Egypt is generally safe for tourists visiting established destinations such as Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Hurghada. Travellers should follow local guidelines, remain aware of their surroundings in crowded markets, and avoid restricted border regions and military zones.

What currency is used in Egypt?

The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, museums, airports, and larger restaurants, but carrying some local currency is recommended for markets, taxis, tips, and smaller purchases.

Can I take trains instead of internal flights?

Yes, Egypt’s sleeper trains connect several major destinations and can be a more economical choice. However, journeys are considerably longer than flights, making trains better suited to travellers with flexible schedules.

How many days are enough for Egypt?

A 7–8 day itinerary is ideal for covering Egypt’s classic route, including Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. Travellers wishing to add destinations such as Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, or Alexandria should consider 10–12 days for a more comfortable experience.

Are guides really necessary for Egypt tours?

Guides are not compulsory, but they can greatly enhance your understanding of Egypt’s history and culture. Sites such as the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, and the Pyramids become far more meaningful when explored with a knowledgeable local expert.

What is the best time to visit Egypt from India?

October to March is considered the most comfortable period for visiting Egypt, thanks to cooler temperatures and pleasant sightseeing conditions. Travellers seeking fewer crowds and better deals often prefer April and September, although temperatures are slightly higher.
