Chowmahalla Palace

Built in the 18th Century, Chowmahalla Palace is a splendid monument which housed the Asaf Jahi Dynasty and the Nizams of Hyderabad. With domes style architecture inherited from the Nizam period, Chowmahalla Palace is one of the most popular historical places in Hyderabad.

Salar Jung Museum

Located in the southern part of Hyderabad near the Musli river, Salar Jung Museum is one of the three National Museums of India. It was inaugurated in 1951 and has a collection of various textiles, manuscripts, metallics, ceramics, and clocks from countries like Japan, China, USA, Nepal, Burma (now Myanmar), Egypt, Europe, and India. Salar Jung Museum has around 38 galleries which are spread on two floors and it is one of the best historical places in Hyderabad.

One of the most popular art pieces in the museum is the sculpture of Veiled Rebecca made by Italian Sculptor Giovanni Maria Benzoni. The artist only made 4 Veiled Rebecca sculptures and the other three are in the United States.

Taramati Baradari

Taramati Baradari is an ancient and historical Sarai which was built in the 1880s. Baradari is a building with 12 open doors to allow free-flow of air and Taramati Baradari is one of its kind monument in Hyderabad. It is located along the Musi river near the Persian-style garden, Ibrahim Bagh and is very close to Golconda Fort and it is one of the best historical places in Hyderabad.

Taramati Baradari is now an open complex with an auditorium that can accommodate around 1600 people. Alongside an auditorium, the Baradari also has an air-cool theatre, a banquet hall and a very famous multi-cuisine restaurant.

Malwala Palace

Among the historical places of Hyderabad, Malwala Palace is one of the oldest palaces dating back to the 17th century. This historical monument is located in the Moghalpura area of Hyderabad.

Malwala Palace adopts its architecture from the early styles of the Rajputana Kingdom and the finest Mughal architectural patterns. The palace has some of the rare design patterns with a special teak wood style furniture. 
The palace is located on the eastern side of Char Minar.

Toli Masjid

Located in the Karvan suburb of Hyderabad, this majestic, giant, and flamboyant mosque is only 2 km away from Golconda Fort. Among the historical places of Hyderabad, Toli Mosque or Damdi Masjid is considered one of the finest places in the city.  Its brilliant Qutb Shahi style of architecture is breathtaking and attracts many tourists from all over India. 

Constructed in 1671, the front side of the mosque has 5 arches or openings which have lotus designs on them. There are two pillars embarked on two sides of the mosque and each of the pillars is around 20 meters tall. The mosque is also popular in the locality for its cleanliness.

Thousand Pillar Temple

The oldest and one of the famous historical places in Hyderabad, Thousand Pillar Temple or Sri Rudreshwar Temple is located in a small town of Hanamkonda near Hyderabad. The temple is estimated to be built between 1175 to 1324 by King Ruda of the Kakatiya dynasty and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Surya. 

Thousand Pillar Temple is considered a masterpiece in architecture due to its varied and unique architecture. The thousand pillars of the temple are carved with various patterns and designs of animals like elephants and cows. The sculpture pattern of the Kakatiya Dynasty is one of a kind and is only visible in this temple.

Falaknuma Palace

Purani Haveli

One of the historical places of Hyderabad from the golden era, Purani Haveli is a remarkable structure that was built to serve the Peshwa Mir Momen of Mohammed Quli Qutub. The haveli is one of the finest monuments of Hyderabad which functions as an art gallery and museum.

I happened to spend a weekend with my immediate family in July. They have taken appropriate measures to contain the virus there. After thoroughly checking all that we went there and stayed. The environment, the staff, food & beverages, and their hospitality were excellent. I recommend this place to everyone looking to spend outside your home safely during this pandemic.
