Universal Studios Singapore, Sentosa

Pulau Ubin's Puaka Hill

There is more to PulauUbin than just the ChekJewa. This offshore island is an adventure in itself where the kampong heritage is still alive. The Puaka hill trek has been shut to the public until recently after it was readied for hiking and walking. The 3- 4 hours hike to Puakahill is tough due to steep and slippery trails. The trek is comprised of rocky terrain and circled with thick growths of wild ferns where the highest peak is reached at 76 meters. There are 4 different routes to reach the peak.

Highlight: The view at the top is worth the 20 minute steep climb. If you are lucky enough and if the weather is clear then you would be able to view past Changi into the city. However, the absolute sight of the Malaysian border and the glimpse of sun stricken Granite Quarry is definitely a bonus point in the trek.

Tanjong Beach

If you are looking for some time alone or seeking peace and tranquillity, then you should definitely come to Tanjong beach at Sentosa Island. Among the 3 beaches in Sentosa, Tanjong is less crowded and has very minimal amenities. This place is perfect to while away time reading a book or walking along the coastline or by spending some quality time with your special someone. The beach looks glorious during the night when the breeze is mild and chilly, and the sky is clear of clouds.

Highlights: An inexpensive and finest romantic getaway. All you need is a mat and some nice refreshments and you can spend hours talking to your bae under the twinkling starlit sky. Enjoy a weekend getaway at the Tanjong Beach Club, one of the best in the island.

Mount Serapong

Mount Serapong also has a nickname, Clement hill, as in the past it was home to Military Installation and Large water reservoirs. The Serapong hill is located in the SentosaIsland and on top of it sits the Serapong Fort, which was built by the British army in 1879. The only reason you would want to climb up the Serapong is to visit the Fort which is definitely worth the tour. The fort has mysterious tunnels, batteries and underground room. It was in full swing during the WWII when it was used as a viewpoint and defence post.

Highlights: The remains of two gun batteries which were constructed in the early 1800s can still be found, including the Casemates and Magazines. Be sure of your foot because you will see lot of signs indicating danger due to unsuitable ground for hiking. If you like to know about wars and the stories behind it, if you are interested in turrets, guns and abandoned batteries, then a visit to this place is must.

Palawan Beach

Palawan Beach is meant for a perfect family spree. It is one of the three beaches located in the Sentosa Island of Singapore. The beach is ideal for families who are looking to spend some quality time with kids as it has more amenities and amusements for children, Port of Lost Wonder being one of them. Port of Lost wonder is Singapore’s first Kids Club and features leisure activities, themed park and water plays for children between 3 to 10 years. Find a huge food court that serves Indian, Chinese and western food and a number of little shop houses.

Highlights: Watch the free animal show at Palawan Amphitheatre. Enjoy a fun walk on a suspension bridge that connects to the Southernmost Point of continental Asia, which is also Asia’s closest point to the equator. Take your kids to the birds-eye view tower and get a panoramic view of the entire Sentosa Island.
