Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Melasti is often used by the local people for performing the Melasti ceremony on a specific day like before Nyepi. Impossible Beach

Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu also called Pura Luhur Uluwatu is popular among tourists for its splendid location. The word Ulu means the tip or top and watu signifies rock or stone. The magnificent temple is seated on a steep cliff top, about 70 meters above sea level. It’s one of the six prominent temples looked upon as Bali’s sacred pillars. 

The temple is known for breathtaking sunsets just like Tanah Lot Temple, gracing the picturesque island of Bali. 
The inner sanctum or chamber of Uluwatu Temple is perched on the steep edge cliff, imposing over the island’s famous surf that breaks south. 

Uluwatu Temple is a traveler’s paradise for its stunning views of the ocean and delightful Kecak dance performances hosted at an amphitheater close to the temple. The striking feature of Pura Luhur Uluwatu is its Balinese architecture, prehistoric sculptures, and conventonally designed gateways, adding to the temple’s attraction. 

You will find numerous archaeological remains around the temple, which indicates that the Uluwatu Temple dates back to approx tenth century. The temple has two entrances, one from the north and the other from the south. 

The temple is surrounded by a small forest, inhabited by numerous monkeys, supposed to be the devoted guardians of Uluwatu Temple in Bali. Strong concrete walls on the cliffside protect the meandering pathway of this beautiful temple. 

It takes around an hour or so to reach one end of the temple to the other. You will find numerous fenced points down the way to the temple, where you can halt for a while to rest or relax. The stunning views of the ocean waves rushing up against the rocks and beautiful horizon will leave you awestruck.

Bali’s Hindu community considers that power of Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu, the Hindu Trinity, come together here in this temple. Their belief led to the construction of Uluwatu Temple, the worship place of Shiva Rudra, who is the Hindu deity of all aspects and essentials of life in this world.


Balangan Beach

The fresh breezes in the beaches are said to give you the best feeling in the world. Whenever we visit any place we definitely try to find out the beaches there to spend some time there. So this time while you are visiting Uluwatu, don’t miss your chance to visit the famous Balangan Beach. With low strands and rocky this beach attracts a lot of tourist around the world. This beach is also known as Pantai Balangan.

This ravishing beach highlights and of brilliant sand circumscribed between vegetated limestone precipices and a reef with one of the longest left-hander breaks on the island. This beach is also known as surfer’s paradise. Balangan Beach falls shares the same region as Dreamland, set just a kilometer apart and isolated by a little headland that fills in as the well known mark Hole 15 of the New Kuta Golf Course, from where players get the best elevated view over both shorelines and the sea skyline.

Highlights: Balangan Beach is famous for surfing and good for photography as well. One can also witness the majestic sunset while they visit this beach.

Location: You can visit the coastline from Jalan Pantai Balangan, 7-kilometre (4.3-mile) ride west from the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park.


Dreamland Beach

One of the best known “hidden beaches” of Bali, Dreamland Beach is located on the edge of the Bukit Peninsula in Indonesia. Despite rigorous urban development on its limestone landscape, Dreamland Beach still retains much of its rugged, primordial charm.

Dreamland Beach became highly accessible to the public following the development of the Pecatu Graha and the Pecatu Indah Raya Resorts project, which, at the turn of the millennium, transformed about 400 hectares of virgin terrain into what is now known as ‘New Kuta’. Initially, the beach had no entrance fee to it, and was crowded by locals as well as tourists.

To manage crowd, visitors are now subjected to an entrance fee of 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah for locals, and 15,000 Indonesian Rupiah for tourists. 
The beach is a treat for surfers, especially experienced ones. One can enjoy some of Bali’s best shore breaks near the Dreamland shore, or paddle out to the nearby world-class reef breaks at Balangan.

The beach is also a perfect spot to enjoy sunbathing, or simply lounge on picnic mats while enjoying the natural setting around the beach. Decks and Parasols can be rented from the beach at cheap rates for this very purpose.
The beach is a part of the Dreamland area, an elite resort area with a number of different facilities for its guests to enjoy.

The Beach premises is scattered with a number of resorts and hotels, as well as world class eateries, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Although most of the local warung food stalls that once existed are now gone, one can still find a number of food peddlers on the beach selling soft drinks or snacks.
The 100 meter long stretch of white sand, overlooking the rolling blue of the Indian Ocean, commands a magnificent view of the serene horizon, and is a perfect spot to enjoy the scenic sunsets of Bali.
