  • Bustling Krabi Town is majestically situated among impossibly angular limestone karsts jutting from the mangroves, but mid-city you’re more likely to be awe-struck by the sheer volume of guesthouses, travel agencies and building work packed into this quirky, compact town.

    It's a key transport hub, around which a busy traveller scene continues to evolve. Western restaurants and free wi-fi are ubiquitous, as are gift shops selling the usual trinkets. And yet, if you hang around a while, you’ll see that there’s also a very real provincial scene going on between the cracks.

    When travellers talk dreamily about the amazing Andaman, they usually mean Krabi, with its trademark karst formations curving along the coast like a giant limestone fortress of adventure. Rock climbers will find their nirvana in Railay, while castaway wannabes should head to Ko Lanta, Ko Phi-Phi or any of the other 150-plus islands swimming off this 120km-long bleach-blonde shoreline.

  • 01Jum Island or Phu Island

    Based close to Krabi and Ko Lanta Yai, the less known Arabian island Ko Jum, also known as Ko Phu Island, strikes a perfect balance of long stretched sandy beaches, splendid sun, thinning crowds and laid back relaxing ambience. The silky coral sand and the transparent aquamarine water encircle the west coast of Jum islands. Though some areas are a little rocky but the best part is there are plenty of swimmable patches.     Based on the southern part of Poda and Tup islands, Kai Island is also been popularly known as Poda Nuk Island or Hua Khawan Island.     Based close to Chicken Islands, Mor Island or Koh Mor is a small island in the Andaman Sea in Thailand.   • 04Mu Koh Hong

    Mu Koh Hong is not a single island but a cluster of limestone islands which includes popular islands like Lao Riam Pakka, Lao or Sa Ka Lao La Ding and not to forget the southern big island Lao Li Pe. The major attractions of these islands are its pictorial beauty consisting of white sandy beaches, amazing coral reefs, mesmerizing ambience, pleasant climate and crystal blue waters.   • 05Pak Bia Island

  • 06Phai Island or Bamboo Island

The beautiful serene island is being under continuous monitoring of Royal Thai Navy as a result tourists are only permitted to visit but not stay overnight at the place.   • 07Poda Island

    Koh Poda is a small island with breathtaking scenic beauty based on the western corners of Ao Nang. A picture perfect tropical island showcasing nature extravaganza, this is undoubtedly a huge miss if not visited. Stretching for not a bit than 1 kilometer in diameter, the beautiful island remains fringed by turquoise blue waters and has a vast treasury of glistening white sands and amazing coral reefs that are simply mesmerizing.

    Things to do: The island can easily be visited on a day tour from Ao Nang or the Railay Beaches. One can have a wide range of beach activities here but popular sports here are swimming and snorkeling. A visitor fee needs to be paid while visiting the island as the same comes under the part of Mu KohPhi Phi National Park

    Getting There:  The island is located at a distance of about 30 minutes and once can reach there through a long tail boat from Ao Nang
  • 08Si Bo Ya Island

    Being an ideal getaway from the hustle of city life, Si Bo Ya Island is one of the famous islands near Krabi. Being essentially an abode of the island fisherman, many tourists come here to learn more about the culture, facility, living conditions of these fishermen. The island is close to both Jum Island and Pu Island. White beech, blue waters, some rocky terrains and an excellent relaxing ambience make this island so popular near Krabi.   • 09Yao Noi Island

    Based in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, Ka Yao Noi Islands is often referred as “small long Island”.   • 11Yung Island or Mosquito Island

    One of the remotest parts of Phi Phi islands, Mosquito Island is one of the isolated islands which consist of a limestone cliff rock which is around 700 meters in height. The island is divided into two small beaches and both the beaches remains filled with mosquitoes during sunset and hence the name. Beautiful white sandy beaches and soft corals enhance the beauty of the island.



    Swimming is not suggested here as black tip sharks are common in the northern cove. Snorkeling is done on the south eastern shores whereas diving is done best on the north eastern tip

  • 12Bida Nok

    Bida Nok Island is one of the most preferred dive sites in Phi Phi islands. This is one such place where diving can be done at all levels and it providers great entertainment to all who does it. A fascinating topography is visible underneath with abundant fish life that simply mesmerizes the divers. Giant moray eels, turtles, schools of snapper, lionfish, hunting jackfish, barracuda, nudibranchs, sweetlips, and sea snakes are some of the fascinating under water creatures visible here.



    Soft corals especially in the north eastern side are a sight to enjoy. The dive boats regularly visit Phi Phi every day of the week. The dive boats provide a 3 dive combo and it is only after considering the weather conditions, sea currents and safety they agree on the trip.
  • 13Bida Nai

    Based at a distance of about 1 km south of Phi Phi Islands, Bida Nai is the limestone brother island of Bida Nok and is also considered as a splendid dive sites especially for the uncountable collection of unique and charming aqua life. Though the reef remains covered by both soft and hard corals, a keen eyed diver will spot the splendid fishes any way. A minimum of 4 divers needs to be present while diving and all happens under the guidance of the diving leader of the dive boat.



    Underneath there are caves and colorful lagoons but it is advisable to avoid the caves if there is no prior experience in under water diving as this are narrow passages and not safe for amateurs. This is one of the most exciting destination and the only happening activity in this island.

Wat Tham Sua

If you are in search of spiritual experience in Thailand, The Tiger Cave Temple aka Wat Tham Sua is one place you must visit. Surrounded by the stunning natural surroundings and located close to Krabi town, the temple is one of the finest natural wonders of Thailand and deserves your visit. The temple has various natural caves, which are formed within the beautiful jungles and are home to numerous monks. : ’ Reaching to the top of the Temple Cave is not an easy task. You have to climb 1,237 steps up to the limestone tower, which is daunting, especially in the Thai climate. Reaching the top, you can witness the panoramic 360-degree views of the tropical islands, limestone cliff formations, the Andaman Sea and rainforests.

Getting There: The Tiger cave temple is just three km from the Krabi town and can be reached via a mini-bus, taxi or tuk-tuk.

Koh Lanta Island

Stretching from Klong Dao on the northern side and Bamboo Bay on the southern, Koh Lanta is probably amongst the most favored beaches in Thailand. The sheer size of the coastline is what attracts most beach bums to this stunning getaway.  For the adventurists, the popular places for diving are on the coasts of Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, and Ko Haa. Getting there:
 There are no direct regular ferries from Phuket to Krabi although it is possible to charter a speedboat or similar transportation. Daily ferries operate between Phuket and Krabi via Phi Phi Island

Khao Khanap

The two limestone peaks of Khao Khanap Nam are definitely a sight worth seeing. Located along the Krabi River, the peaks sit side by side as the gateway to the region, each jutting out some 100 meters from the water. There’s no admission fee to visit, although you will need to pay for your boat ride to reach the locality.



Highlights
: There are several caves inside Khao Khanap Nam with impressive clusters of stalactites and stalagmites to marvel at and explore. The mangrove forests surrounding Khao Khanap Nam also make this the perfect area for canoeing or renting a boat for a leisurely afternoon on the water.

Getting There: The only way to get to Khao Khanap Nam is by boat from the Chao Fa Pier in Krabi. It is a 15 minute scenic ride by long-tail boat.

Ko Phi Phi

Ko Phi Phi, a small archipelago of six islands is the most beautiful and widely popular tourist destination in Andaman. A beautiful bondage of two islands together by a narrow isthmus is something that makes this place this pretty. The postcard picture perfect beaches, unending thickets and craggy cliffs of this island have been known for seducing people from all over the world. Often visitors find it a herculean task to detach themselves from the just flawless beauty that this place offers.


Things to Do: While in Phi Phi Islands, you just cannot miss the viewpoint which is around 186m above sea level and allures you with the breathtaking views of the entire region. Relax and unwind yourself at Lane Beach, take a leisure walk in Yao Beach and enjoy some spectacular views at Hin Kho Beach.

Getting There: The best possible way to reach Ko Phi Phi islands is by a ferry from Phuket, Ao Nag, RaiLeh, Krabi Town, KoLAnta s per the nearest location. Tonsai Pier is the island’s main pier and supports good frequency of boats from all the mentioned places.

Chicken Island

Chicken Island also known as Koh Kai, KohGai or Koh Hua Khwan derive  this hilarious name from its unusual shape that resembles the head and neck of a chicken. Crowned in the south of Poda and Tup Islands, this timeless beauty is just 30 minutes away from the coast of Krabi.One impressive feature about this island is that during low tides, a sandbar emerges from the water which connects Chicken Island to neighbouring tiny islands of KohMor and Tup. This stunning event is called as TalayWaek.


Things to Do: Snorkeling is one activity that you just cannot miss while here as the water is crystal clear and azure, thus, bringing the entire aquatic life into existence. This island is known for enticing people for its incredible sandbank that emerges during the low tide.

Getting There: Your journey to this stunning island begins from AoNanag- board a longtail boat till Koh Kai. You can even board these boats from KlongMuang, NopparatThara, and the Railay Beaches.

Koh Hai

Encircled by coral and clear waters, densely forested KoHai is the most developed of the Trang Islands. The long blonde windswept beach on the eastern coast spills into tranquil waters with a sandy bottom. With no indigenous population, a bunch of attractive resorts has the whole island to themselves.


Things to Do: The Island offers an endless supply of diving and snorkelling activities and leisurely resorts.

Getting There:Long-tail and speedboat transfers is the easiest way to travel to the island.

Phra Nang Beach

Phra Nang beach is part of a small peninsula located between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang beach. Phra nang beach is also beside Railay beach which is accessible only by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. There is the famous "Princess Cave" or Tham Phra Nang Nok in Phra Nang beach. It is believed by local fishermen to be the home of a mythical sea princess. 



Activities: Phra nang beach is so spectacular that you can just lie there and soak in the sun. If you are adventurous it is possible to hike to the top of the headland to get spectacular views of the entire area. Swimming and snorkeling can also be enjoyed off this pristine, white sandy beach.

Known For: There is shrine built inside the limestone cave which is dedicated to an ancient fertility goddess. Inside the limestone cave is a collection of strange phallic symbols, offerings and objects believed to help with fertility. Local fishermen still leave offerings although it's now becoming a local tourist attraction.

Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi Ley

Maya Bay is most famously known for it’s feature in the famous movie starring Leonadio Di Caprio where they escape to a “Paradise-like Island”, Paradise it definitely is. Surrounded by crystal blue-green waters and hidden behind three towering cliffs this is a beach that one has to visit. Due to it’s popularity it’s always crowded with hoards of day trippers. 



Activities: Snorkeling and diving are excellent throughout the bay, large underwater boulders are encrusted with coral and brightly coloured fish are numerous. Visibility is excellent. Sea kayaking is also popular. Kayaking tour boats come into the bay and moor while letting clients explore.

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Maya Bay is between November and April during the high season when seas are calm and access to the bay is easy. Rough seas from May to October may hinder access but rarely deny entry.

Price: There is a national park entry fee of 200 Baht.
