Skandagiri Night Trek Overview

Trip Starting From: Bangalore

Trip Location: Bangalore

About Skandagiri Night Trek

Skandagiri, also historically known as Kalwarbetta or Kalavara Durga, is a mountain fortress located around 70 km from Bangalore. This tiring yet much rewarding trek takes you through a spectacular journey amidst the wilderness. Starting from Bangalore, reach the base point and hereby begins the sunrise trek.

The serene and sublime atmosphere around Skandagiri will definitely boost up your adrenaline to a whole new level. This 10km trek can easily be completed within 4 to 5 hours of ascending and descending. Tried and tested both by amateurs and professionals, this moderately difficult trek is a must for all thrill-seekers.

The climb gets a little trying as you reach the Papagni Temple, hereby offering treacherous terrains amongst the dense shrubs around. From this point, the steep climb may require tricky footwork till you reach the summit.

The ruined remains of Tipu Sultan's fortress and an abandoned fort remains at the top of the hill. Skandagiri is famous for walking above the clouds, literally! As you reach the top, enjoy the bonfire in the starry night couched inside your sleeping bags.

Wake up to experience the morning winds caressing you, as you open your eyes to get the most magnanimous sight of the sun rising above beds of clouds, a sight so rare and equally refreshing. The misty valley of Skandagiri is bound to leave an everlasting impression on your mind.

Trek was nice but so much of tiring :) whoever is planning for this trek i would like to suggest them to do few stretching exercises at-least for 3-4 days before this trek. Relaxing on peak of Skandagiri under sky roof along with Stars and camp fire was superb :) Thrillophilia is all safe and reliable and organized :) Even I went alone in a group , got good accompany . You will find decent crowd. Sujay our trek leader was nicely coordinating with everyone. Some Tips :- 1. Do stretching exercise before 2-3 days of actual trek 2. Wear Trekking Shoes only 3. Do not wear Jeans as there are so many Rocky patches to climb up. 4. Carry Winter Jacket and cap as early morning you will find its tough time to survive from cold :) 5. Torch by default for Night Trek 6. Try to keep your bag light weighted as much as possible. Overall experience was nice.

This can be a great trek for people who are just starting off. Swamy and Team followed all the standard operating procedures of a trek.Gave directions, One lead , one was with the group and the other towards the end. Sleeping bags were given and in good condition. They lit up a bonfire at the cliff as well. Overall, they did a decent job managing the group though it almost became a 'crowd'. They were also very tolerant to some noisy people and handled the whole thing with ease. Swamy's Team was very energetic and chatty which made the trek back down all the more interesting. We stopped at a decent hotel for breakfast on our way back. Food was great for the starved stomach! The cost of 990 includes the breakfast. However, I feel Thrillophilia & Swamy & Team can work towards a better pricing. Not to forget, the booking experience at Thrillophilia was hassle free and well coordinated. The only downside would be that Swamy & team weren't punctual. Me and my friends were waiting for over a 1.5 hours at Hebbal from the stipulated time! If they improve on the punctuality quotient , they can be great! Overall a nice experience!

Not many tour operators offer the mystical Skandagiri night trek option, but Thrillophilia does! This was the ultimate adventure for me. I did not know such a short trek could be so thrilling! And the whole thing was so immaculately arranged that the Skandagiri trek had to go well. Kudos to Thrillophilia for the brilliant planning!
