Pura Gede Perancak Overview

Located in Jembrana Regency overlooking the scenic Perancak River, Pura Gede Perancak is a renowned temple steeped in history. Visit during your Bali tour to admire its white stone entranceways and serene atmosphere. Built to commemorate the arrival of monk Nirartha, it hosts the Bull Run ceremony. Discover this cultural gem 10 km west of Tegalcangkring Village.

Overlooking the ceremoniously beautiful river Perancak in a village with the same name is the famous temple, Pura Gede Perancak. It is exactly located in Jembrana Regency and can be visited during your Bali tour. The alluring temple is built with wide white stone entranceways and it welcomes the devotees and visitors with warmth and joy.

This was the place where monk Nirartha set his foot for the first time in Bali several years ago. Gede Perancak was an abandoned site and the ruins remained just like that.Renovations and reformations had influenced the rebirth of the site in an unpredictably charming way.

Structure of the temple: The three entrance gateways are imitating the traditional architecture of the island. After climbing several steps that start with the greetings of two crocodiles, not the original ones, of course, you will reach these three entrance placed horizontally. Inside, there are small shrines for different deities.

Highlight: The temple commemorates the holy site where Dang Hyang Nirartha came for the first when he arrived in Bali in 1546. The temple acts as the host of Bull Run which is a favourite ceremony for the locals.

Entry fee: To enter the temple, you need not pay any fee but you are supposed to dress up in a sarong. If you don’t have one, you can get it for rent near the temple.

Location: The temple is located in Jembrana Regency around 10 km west of Tegalcangkring Village.
