Gangtok in Monsoon

The period between July to September marks the presence of the winter season in Gangtok.

The monsoon season is considered to be the least favourite season among tourists to visit Gangtok due to heavy rainfalls that make the movement in the region challenging, causing the blockage of roads. The landslide incidents due to rains every now and then also render the place a little unsafe during the monsoon months. Moreover, you can also not get to enjoy clear views of snow-capped hills as there are thick clouds and fog covering the area during this time.

On the other hand, as it starts to rain, the vegetation of the town blossoms. The perfect blend of green vegetation under the shrouds of white clouds and mist make the place appear surreal. So, if you do not have a tight schedule to follow, you can still visit Gangtok during the rainy season and admire the vibrant atmosphere that is a pure visual delight to one’s eyes.

You can visit most tourist sites unless it is raining heavily. Though you may not be able to enjoy activities like river rafting and motorbiking during monsoons, you can still opt for activities like trekking and sightseeing.

Newly Added Gangtok Experience

This was my first trip with Thrillophilia as well as with complete strangers. I must say that Thrillophilia did not disappoint me ( nobody is perfect, so be flexible to accept minute glitches) . The whole trip went so smooth , starting from the pick up from airport, the hotels we got, arrangement of permits, site seeing and drop at the airport. Special thanks to Deep ( trip coordinator from tour angle) and Ammu ( my cab driver) . P. S. : if you want to see the flower calf yumthang valley and the frozen Tsomgo and Gurudongmar lake , then the ideal time to visit north Sikkim is March-April. November is the ideal time to witness the pleasant winter of sikkim along with its untouched beauty. Looking forward to travel more with Thrillophilia. P.S: the only problem which we faced was two co- passengers who used to get late for everything and because of them we had to rush from each location because of time constraint ( I totally understand that this things isn’t in the hand of Thrillophilia)

I am madly and deeply in love with Sikkim. I can't believe a place like this can be so beautiful and still people are unaware about it. Walking through narrow pathways and tiny hamlets on the way make this place all the more interesting and worth the effort.
