1. Lake Tsomgo 

If you are planning a Gangtok family trip, a visit to Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, is a must-visit spot. This lake is located just 42 km from Gangtok City, and sits at a height of 12,313 feet. Take a fun and slow paced ride of the beautifully decorated yaks around the lake. The institute's museum owns a large collection of artefacts that provide insights into Tibetan, Buddhism and Sikkimese cultures. You can admire the beautiful thangkas, intricate statues, ritual objects as well as ancient manuscripts written in languages such as Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, and Lepcha. Adjacent to the museum, is a library that boasts a massive collection of over 60,000 volumes with works on theology, philosophy, and Tibetan studies.
