About the Activity:
- Experience Kerala’s glorious skilled forms of art. Kathakali and Kalaripayattu are two strong pillars upon which the state’s art and culture heritage rests. On this two hours experience, you’ll witness these forms in full bloom being performed in front of your very own eyes. It is nothing short of a gripping episode.
This tour has various slots, from between 5 PM and 7 PM. Over the duration of this show, it takes you through an enthralling experience of captivating performances by well-trained and brilliantly talented artists from Kalamandalam, an art school. Lose yourself in the ancient dance-drama form of Kathakali. Be amazed at the flexibility and agility of Kalari artists as they showcase astonishing forms of self-defense through Kalaripayattu.

Thekkady is located near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and is popular for its verdant landscapes. It is most renowned for the wildlife sanctuary called the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary sprawling over 777 sq.km. The sanctuary is blessed with dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savanna grass lands. It is home to countless wildlife species that are of the rare and endangered variety such as elephants, deers, bisons, sambar, langurs, stork, the Malabar Giant Squirrel, flying squirrel and lion-tailed Macaques.
Another one of the fond tourist places in Thekkady is Kurisumala which is known for trekking and offers panoramic views of the sanctuary and plantation town of Kumily which is a notable tourist attraction in the outskirts of the reserve. Other tourist hot spots near Thekkady are the hilly towns of Murikkady, Chellar Kovil, Vandiperiyar, Anakkara lolling with tea and coffee plantations. The Mangala Devi Temple situated near Thekkady is another favourite tourist attraction hidden in the dense woods.
