Flora

Satpura Tiger Reserve is very well known for its vast biodiversity. It has around 1300 species of plants which includes teak, sal, bamboos, mahua (Indian butter-tree), tendu, bel (stone-apple), grasses, unchecked grown lantanas, bushes etc.

Handi Khoh

Handi Khoh is a canyon set in the dense forest of Pachmarhi with a height of 300 ft. The legend has it that there was a lake present here. A poisonous evil serpent was guarding the lake. Lord Shiva and the serpent had a fight once and the rage between them led to the lake being dried up. And this is how the ravine was formed.

The space left by the dried river looked like a handi (pot). That is how Handi Khoh got its name. You can spot beehives hanging to the steep rock face. Offering views of gorges and valleys, Handi Khoh is a perfect spot for photography in Madhya Pradesh.

Best Time to Visit Satpura National Park

The best time to visit Satpura National Park is from October to June. The national park is open throughout the year for the visitors except for the monsoon season. During the summer season (May to June) the climate remains pleasant with temperatures hovering around 35 degree Celsius.

The probability of sighting tiger increases during this season as they can be spotted during water bodies. The backwaters and the dense jungle help the temperature to fall after the sunset.
