  • Trekking in Himachal Pradesh is one of the most adventurous activities that you can take on. Literally meaning the ‘Abode of the Himalayas’, the state is probably the frontier region when it comes to high mountain treks in the country. With names of places that are already very well known amongst the crowd that loves adventures, a visit to Himachal must always entail that you will be taking on at least one of the many famous treks here.

Treks in Himachal Pradesh include the many famous names of Triund, Kheerganga, Hamta Pass, Indrahar Pass, Malana and many such brilliant treks. All of these guarantee the one simple thing that you originally came to witness; mesmerizing views of the various Himalayan ranges that dot the lands of this state. Take Triund Trek, for example. When you reach the top of Triund, you can see the Kangra mountain range towering above the beautiful landscape. Or the brilliantly beautiful Kheerganga Trek, which offers you some of the best views of the most serene valley of the state, the Parvati Valley.

Some of the other highly famous Himalayan treks include the names of Bhrigu Lake Trek, Beas Kund Trek and Kareri Lake Trek, where the end result is the views of some of the most beautiful high altitude lakes of the Himalayas. And other names include Laka Got Glacier Trek, the Pangarchulla Peak Trek, and the Baralacha Chandertal Trek, where you can frolic in the snow as well as a trek in it. And all this, cumulated to bring an experience, is what makes Himachal a heaven for trekkers.

Here are some of the best treks of Himachal Pradesh:

  • 01Hampta Pass Trek

    Hampta Pass Trek

The Hampta pass trek begins from the lush green Kullu-Manali valley and ends in the rather barren Chandra valley of Lahaul. This is a moderately difficult treks in Himachal and does a not put too much physical strain on the trekkers. The trek passes through oak, walnut and alder forests hypnotizing your senses with the sheer beauty of the landscape.

The suitable time for trekking here is from May through October. The trail takes you the mountain base of Deo Tibba and Indrasan and you get an excellent view of their glaciers snaking down into the Lahaul valley.

The stark contrast between the two valleys is available to the naked eyes. While the Kullu valley abounds in flora and fauna, the Lahaul valley stands out in its barrenness. Along your path, you will come across pretty streams, glaciers and rivers, rare flowers and birds.

The experience in totality is rejuvenating and although at times it may seem arduous, the mountains reward you for your efforts with amazing views of the surroundings.

Prashar Lake

Sage Prashar is the reason Prashar Lake got its name ages ago. One visits this quintessential lake will be unknowingly directed to oblivion and for sure the serenity will let every visitor linger for more. Located in Mandi village, Himachal Pradesh, the iconic attraction apart from the lake is the three stories pagoda like temple structure near the lake. 2730 meters above the lake seats amidst the rejuvenating sets of nature’s miracles including the snow-clad peaks in the backdrop and River Beas flowing so fast through the valley down. One can get access to the lake through Drang. The age of temple lengthens back to 13th century and the lake has one more surprise within it that is a floating island. Though visitors are seen in plenty over here, no one could accurately fathom the depth the lake goes into, till date.
