Lake treks are fun. It was very interesting. What is more interesting is that you get to stay in the forest rest house. This is fun if it is well planned. There is trek, the visit to lake, and the rest house stay in forest. Apart from that there is nothing fancy or anything. So, plan accordingly. Some of the positives of this trek are that it is pretty cheap, easy-moderate level difficulty, safe path to trek and travel solo, very beautiful, and mesmerising. The cons were the flight charges, not so good food, and well the climate. If you visit during season and if you have planned it well then this is a nice trek to take and enjoy with your gang of fun loving buddies.

Went for this trek a while back. It really started as a spur of the moment decision to do some off-roading with a new set of SUV tyres (Apollo Apterra, if you are wondering), which soon turned into a crazy ride from Chandigarh to Karerilake Himachal. The easy availability of this trek made it the best choice for our group (4 guys without much baggage). Left the Jeep back in a paid parking (there are many in the ganj), and embarked on one of the most exciting treks I have joined. The beauty of Himachal takes your breath away every single time (this was my 5th trek in the state) and the stays organised for us were quite scenic. Planning to go back with more friends soon.

Kareri Lake trek was extremely exciting since we had to camp at many places in the middle of the secluded areas. All the trails were through either forests or meadows. The rocks and stones on the paths were making some climbs difficult. But everyone in our group was so energetic and we never felt tired too. But we got only limited time to spend at the top and near the lake since we had to come back to the campsite before it was late. We took a number of pictures near the lake. There was not much water in the lake when we visited but people said that during rainy season it will be really huge. I liked the surrounding well. Hills with rocks and stones. Greenery was acting as a blanket. Sheep were grazing at some places. The village beauty cannot be replaced or transferred. I belong to one of the major metropolitan cities in India and I could understand the feeling of being at a place where there is only greenery and walkable routes. I was escaped from the daily boring office works, traffic and scorching lights. The flats, hotels, pubs and the same life style. This lake trek was changing my attitude totally.

I am not a great fan of trekking. But my husband and cousins are. Hence when they planned a trip to somewhere in Himachal Pradesh, I said no without thinking. But they forced me to join them and they promised I would definitely like the trek. Kareri Lake trek was a part of the tour through Himachal Pradesh. We have done trekking along some other place. But I thought I should write something about the trek to Kareri Lake. An irresistible place is Kareri Lake and the neighbourhood. It is full of greenery and some rocks. The Himalayan ranges are in the background. Oh God, I never felt such an amazing feeling in my life ever. It was so cold throughout the routes. But it was not winter too. There was no rain as well. Hence the complete trip was awesome. I became the fan of Himachal Pradesh within no time. My cousins were asking me what happened now and all. But to be true, I was gradually liking the place and the trekking. Camping amidst the celebrity nature was something really special. The soothing music of the wind was in my heart and still echoes.
