Situated close to Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of Himalayas, Manimahesh Lake is located in the Chamba district and is one of the most important places to visit in Chamba. The lake is located at a height of 4, 080 meters from the mean sea level and has high religious significance after Lake Mansarovar in Tibet.
The lake is a major pilgrimage trek, which is carried out during the months of August and September on the eighth day of new moon period, as per the Hindu Calendar and is known as 'Manimahesh Yatra.'
An extremely popular trekking route from Dharamshala, the trek to Indrahar Pass trails in the lush folds of the Dhauladhar range. Surrounded by thickets of Deodars and Rhododendrons, the panorama of Pir Panjal range to the north and the plains to the south exhilarates trekkers. Treacherous precipices and steep ascents make this a moderately-difficult trek; passing through Triund Hill and an endless view of Kangra Valley. Akhand Chandi Palace displays the lavishness of Mughals and the artistic architecture of the British. It is a perfect blend of western and eastern architecture and was built in the year 1748-1764. While visiting the Akhand Chandi Palace, you can have a picturesque view of various other beautiful tourist destinations like Chamunda Devi Temple, Sui Mata Temple, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Rang Mahal and many more.
One of the most beautiful features of the palace is that it has distinguishably green roof as the other houses in Chamba along with a conical roof to shed the snow. The palace has beautifully designed windows, which are painted in white.
Until 1957, the palace was with the royal family and in 1958, it was handed over to Himachal Government, which opened a college and district library in the palace.

Traveller Tales From Mcleodganj

We started the trek from McLeodganj at around a height of 1750m and on the first day started trekking to Triund. From there on the second day, we were really blown away with the beauty of the surrounding. Lahesh Caves was an awesome site and so was Ilaqa Got. On the third day, we were on our way to complete our Indrahar Pass route. Climbed up to 4300m and after reaching the pass, we got to witness the opulent beauty of the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas. Fourth day was about trekking back to Mc Leod Ganj and conclude the trek. I must mention the trek guides as they really never hesitated to come forward and help us in every possible ways. Their great team of guides and instructors made the trek easy for us; thanks a bunch guys...would love to join another challenging trek with you soon!

Though Indrahar Pass trek is a short one, the challenges and terrains involved in it are really amazing. There are greater heights involved in the Indrahar Pass trek; make sure you are not scared of heights or try not to get prone to altitude sickness. I think, the trek guides can help you in this.

Kangara Valley Dhauladhars trek worked out to be an excellent trip in my lifetime. If you want to experience a really great trekking one, I suggest that this trek is the above a perfect one. I had heard about this trek from my family friend who had already been to this place, he said that this trek will fit into my budget and taste, this is how I landed up convincing my office mates to opt for this trip when they were hunting out for some trekking holiday. We were a batch of 15 people – combination of both amateurs and professional trekkers. A trek that touches the Dhauladharas range is simple awe striking. We visited many lovely lakes, ancient temples and a plenty of Hindu temples on the way. The scenes are still lovely and fresh in front of my eyes even now, if an opportunity strikes again I would surely pick this trek as my next trekking break.

Triund is the crown jewel of Dharamshala. It is situated in the laps of Dhauladhar mountains. I had an amazing experience with the Triund trek. It has a perfect view of mountains from one side and the Kangra valley on the other. Despite being a popular trekking spot, this trekking spot is not over crowded or polluted. This trek was one of the best experiences that I ever had. I so loved this trek and I want to do this trek again. This may sound stupid, but yeah I want to do this trek again sooner.

While on the Indrahar Pass trek, I literally got amazed by the beauty of the Himalayas; especially the Dhauladhar Range. What a beauty man! Besides trekking, you will also get to explore caves and ample of sightseeing options. The hikes were a bit challenging and prior trekking experience will prove to be a boon if you are planning for this one. Keep an eye on how you pack your bags; better consult with the organisers even before you start packing. You will surely enjoy this trek.

The way our guides helped us throughout our Indrahar Pass trekking was so praiseworthy. The camping and food arrangement was very good. All the members of the group were very friendly and we had lot of fun. The views of snow covered mountains were amazing. Thanks for awesome experience.

I did my fair research before booking for Indrahar Pass trek. Trust me I thought there was nothing which couldn't have known about this place but once I reached the place...I thought everything that I had researched and learnt about the place was just stale knowledge. It is one hell of a place - still can't believe that a scenery can be so appealing to eyes. Forget all about pictures, this place will just woo you in minutes.

First of all, if you think this trek is meant just for professional trekkers then take a break coz this was my first trekking experience and not once I felt that I cannot complete the trek. All of us spent around4-6 hours everyday trekking which gave us ample time to realx our muscles and also we had sufficient time in hand to sit and enjoy the beautiful Dhauladhar ranges and surrounding beauty. Amazing experience!!!
