Take part in an exciting trekking trip to Kotagiri Hill station nestled at the Nilgiri district. Cross over the sprawling tea estates, meadows to reach the hill. The nearby attractions here are Catherine Falls, Elk Falls, Doddabetta Peak and the Rangaswami Pillar. Catherine Falls which is the second highest waterfall in Nilgiri Mountains is surrounded by cottages wherein one can stay overnight. A little away from Ooty, there is Avalanche Lake, a natural gorgeous waterbody. The lake is surrounded by thick forests and sometimes even the sunlight cannot penetrate owing to the presence of forests. The lake offers a good opportunity for trout fishing activity and fishing equipment can be availed from a trout hatchery located closeby.


One can spot magnolias, orchids and rhododendrons that generously grow around this lake.Ooty is very closed located to another popular hill station Coonoor and a day tour to both these places can be made within a day. The places to go for sightseeing at Coonoor are Sim’s Park, Doddabetta, Dolphin’s Nose and Katary Falls. On the Connor road, there is another major tourist attraction – Wax World Museum wherein one can find wax statues of prominent people and of different themes. If time permits, travel around 16kms from Ooty to reach Kokkal Kota, a tribal village where one can see the artisan tribe of Nilgiris, Kotas. Go further and you will reach Pathar Village. This deserted place promises you breathtaking views of Bokkapuram, Masinagudi and Mudumalai Sanctuary. The other best sightseeing tours in Ooty are at Ooty lake, Government Rose Garden, Pykara waterfall, Toda temple and Holy Trinity Church.
