Trekking Zingchen to Chilling

Leh

This trek takes 4 days to complete. The best time to do it is from June to October. The highest point of this trek is Gandala. The highlight of this trip is remote villages, monasteries and people. The first day we drive to Zingchen. From there we walk to Rumbak. From there we leave Zingchen village and then enter Hemis National park. This is the habitat of Snow leopard. From here we go to Rumbak and then stay at self sufficient place. From Rumbak we go to Yurutse. From yurutse we proceed to wildlife sight seeing. After exploringYurutse we traverse across the mountains, pass over valleys into a zig zag path and then cross over Ganda La. From here we go to Markha valley. Further ahead is Kaya village, where home stay facilities are very good. The entire journey takes 6-7 hours. The next day we go to Chilling, crossing Zanskar river. We later on drive to Leh and arrive there by evening.

This trek is one among the easiest treks of Ladakh. If you have less time for trekking, then this would a perfect option for you. This is located at the western part of the Leh Sham. This particular trek is quite adventurous and you can see many ancient villages and monasteries that are rich in agriculture and culture. You can get easy access to this trek from Leh along with many landscapes and popular peaks including the Kang Yatse (6400 m), Stok Kangri (6115 m) and Zanskar range that is from south west part. In the period of this trek you can see Nun Kun Range (over 7000m) and Karkorum from top part of the high pass. This trek also covers Hemis National Park where you can spot many wild animals. National Geographic also received an award for a documentary about Snow Leopards in Rumbak valley. If you wish to have a short trek, then you should definitely go for this one as it also has many beautiful scenes and moderate difficulty. You can also experience a flavour of Ladakh in trekking here

Ladakh

Rumbuk is a Beautiful village which lies in the route of Stok Kangri. As one approaches Rumbak fields the valley suddenly opens up with snowcapped mountains in the background which is a great place to view Ladakh flora and fauna. Some of the prized sightings would be Blue sheep, the Great Tibetan sheep or the Argali, various mountain and migratory birds, high altitude flora and occasionally a Tibetan Wolf or a Snow leopard if extremely lucky. During this trek one also gets to tread through the Stok La pass (4900 M) which commands great views of the Indus valley. En route one can visit the Stok Palace museum which houses rare collections of Ladakhi rulers. This trek is the part of the Markha Valley Trek - a well known trek famous for wild animals. In fact a documentary made on Snow Leopards which eventually won a lot of appreciation and awards was shot in the same valley. It is a perfect moderately difficult trek for the weekend traveler. Low on time and still intend to get a flavor of Ladakh, this is the place.

"The beauty Himalayas possesses is breath taking. During the course of the whole trip, there wasn't a single day we didn't feel awed by it. We opted for this package and it was organised by ladakh escapades. This package covers some highest motorable passes in the world, different landscapes like mountains (some snow mountains), desserts, lakes, rivers, highways. To enjoy these, one should spend enough days and the journey should be hassle free which is exactly what this package offers. You pay the package amount and the only thing you need to worry about during the journey is what to eat for lunch everyday (you will decide that Maggi and omlet are the safest options after day 1). The route from Manali to Srinagar is difficult than the other way as there will be steep increase in the altitude till Leh from Manali and coupled with the low temperatures it will make one's life difficult to acclimatize to the mountains. This package gives good amount of 3 days to take this difficult part of the route and life after that eases. The accommodation, breakfast and dinner provided at the places of stay are of good to very good standards. On 4 nights, accommodation is in tents which is what one can get at those places. The value of the tour guide, bike mechanic and mini lorry to carry luggage included in the package can be understood only when you interact with people who faced difficulties while traveling there without these. I felt customer satisfaction and safety were given the utmost priority by the planners.\n\nHands down, this is a trip for lifetime and choose this package to have one of the most memorable experience that you can ever get."

You will feel the true sense of the word FREEZE when you visit Pangong Tso. That said, the view you're experiencing is simply breathtaking. The sky and lake colors compliment each other absolutely. I saw so many shades of blue that day and the hue of the lake continued to change every hour. I think you might find the right words for a poet or writer to explain this phenomenon. Although no explanation is appropriate for this location, if you're fortunate enough, I'd suggest you'll have the chance to click with your camera on the ultimate images.
