Kumbh Mela is one of the prime factors the fame of Ujjain as a major Hindu pilgrimage is credited to. The largest mass gathering of Hindu pilgrims, Kumbh Mela is a unique concept in itself, listed by UNESCO as one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is held every 12 years at Ram Ghat, located on the bank of the holy river Shipra.
Crores of Hindu devotees attend the festival to partake in the bathing ritual of the festival in which they take a dip in the water of Shipra River which is considered sacred. Ram Ghat of Ujjain is one of the four sites where Kumbh Mela is held. Attending this unique festival is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting things to do in Ujjain.
