The exciting trek starts after you reach Haridwar from where you will be going to Sari passing by the views of the Ganga and Alakananda Rivers and the pilgrim centres of Rishikesh, Devprayag and Rudraprayag will surely let you feel holy. The Mandakini valley you come across before reaching Kund would have many surprises prior to you settling down near the river at the campsite at Sari.
A very enthusiastic yet moderate trek to Deoria Tal may let you witness the quaint hamlets and the temple of Ukhimath and later you need to cross many thickets enriched by the presence of abundant bird species and gradual ascents. Deoria Tal will never disappoint you in terms of the camping and the views from the lake. Chopta fills the post of upcoming destination during the trek. To arrive Chopta, one will have to conquer the not so friendly rhododendron forests.
Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila Peak located at a height of about 4000 meters will be calling you to reach them after beholding the mesmerizing views of hued meadows and pastures. From the top of Chandrashila, get enchanted by the peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba. Following by the time at the peak top, return journey to Haridwar will be ready.
About the Destination:
Deoria Tal Chandrashila Trek with Chopta is a short trek up to the most spellbinding peaks in Garhwal district. The first bit of this trekking journey takes one to Deoria Tal where one can relish the charming beauty of its lake standing at 2438m. It is from the Chaukhamba Peak where one can capture gorgeous views of the Deoria Tal Lake and its mirror-like waters.
The trail leading to Chopta is enveloped in lush green meadows nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. This trail leads one to the Tungnath temple, which stands tall at 3680m and is regarded the highest Shiva shrine in the world. Apart from the exotic flora and fauna caught along the way, one can also feast their eyes with sights of several majestic peaks namely the Bandarpoonch, Kedar and Chaukhamba. After a kilometer-long walk from Tungnath, arrive at the summit of Chandrashila peak at about 4000m. The spectacle offered here comprising of snow-capped peaks and the undulating valleys surrounding the area make this trek well worth it.
There is also the additional experience of lodging at the Himalayan Eco Lodges and Camps at Kund which forms the base for the Deoria Tal Chandrashila trek and overlooks the Mandakini River gushing below the Kedar peak.
