Dandeli is a tourist location and a town
located in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. The town consists of people
from states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh,
Tamil Nadu, and Kerala and other parts of the country. Official language spoken here is Kannada.
In the early 1930’s the population of this
place was quite low and people worked in forestry department and government saw
mill. Till 1936, there was no school in this place and with the financial
support of few esteemed men, they built a
one room school underneath the hill. At that time British colonization was
there and it was approved by British Government.
This region gets great rainfall from August
to November. Weather is mild here and it has a tropical highland climate. Dandeli
is a natural habitat for wildlife, including tigers, leopards, black panthers,
elephants, gaur, deer, antelopes, and bears. This city also didn’t escape from
the industrialization and local volunteers made a group to address the issue
with proper care to save the ecology.
With the diversity of the population, many
