Shettihalli Rosary Church

Built-in the year 1860, Shettihalli Rosary Church is also known as floating church. It is a mesmerising building which is a major heritage signifying gothic architecture. It was used for prayers till the year 1960 as 100 years later the church was to abandon so that Hemavathi Reservoir could get way and it is one of the best Sakleshpur visiting places.      

Due to this, the church gets partially submerged in the backwaters of Hemavathi Dam during the monsoon months from July to October and the ground starts coming back in the month of November and remains dry till May. Due to this practice, one of the elegant Sakleshpur tourist places is getting weaker and could fall if not restored.

Hemavathi Reservoir

Built across the river Hemavathi in 1979, this dam is among the significant places to visit in Sakleshpur. It has a green garden adjacent to it which is often used by tourists as a picnic spot. Also known as Gorur Dam looks magnificent with the open gates when the water gushes down forcefully.

If you are a fan of bird watching then it is suggested that you come for an early morning walk where you will find wonderful sights of distinct birds.

Very nice experience staying in the property. The arrangement was proper, food was very good, staff were courteous and helpful. The activities were nicely organised. Everything was very smooth The beauty of nature is also very pristine and serene. Perfect for a weekend getaway
