Chorten Kora Festival
Celebrated in the easternmost district of Bhutan, Trashiyangtse, this festival is famous for its religious significance. Chorten Kora is a notable stupa created by Lama Ngawang Lodrö in 1740 to subdue a demon which used to live in the place where at present the Chorten is based. Dakpa Kora a popular ritual takes place during the Chorten Kora festival.

The festival remains crowded by people from various regions of the country. The brilliant designs of the stupa often remains compared with the Boudhanath stupa based in Nepal. According to the legends here, the stupa took about twelve years to complete and after its construction, the village people lived peacefully. One can enjoy many age old traditions of Bhutan in this festival.

Trashi Yangtse
Trashi Yangtse also known as Trashiyangtse is a small town in the Yangtse Gewog. It is the district headquarters of the Trashiyangtse District in the eastern Bhutan.

Highlights: Not too densely populated, Trashi Yangtse has a little population of 2735. Given the fact that the population is low, the place is unadulterated and is still beautiful as ever. In the year 1997, a dzong was inaugurated in Trashi Yangtse. Further, the other attractions of the Trashi Yangtse includes a huge art school - The School of Traditional Arts which is a sister school of the School of Traditional Arts in Thimphu. A visit to the school can be a life changing experience for many.
