About the Activity:
A vibrant city, Kochi is the gateway to Kerala. With traces of European history entrenched in the city’s landscape, this lovely seaside delight has much to offer. On this guided experience of around 10 – 11 hours, you’ll get to explore Kochi’s best-known sights, enjoy local cuisines and relax by the beach.
Around 9am you’ll be transferred to your accommodation from the airport/ railway station. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll explore serene Kochi and discover its bygone era. Visit the double storied Dutch Palace at Mattancherry standing by the panoramic Kochi backwaters. Move towards the prominent structure of 15th century Jewish Synagogue to find Chinese porcelain ware, artifacts, and writings in Hebrew. Break for lunch at a local delicacy joint. Continue your outing with a stopover at Fort Kochi Beach. Spend time around local fishermen using a unique mechanism of Chinese Nets. Head for some shopping to the famous Lulu Mall. Return to your destination around 8pm.
About the Activity:
A never before seen Kerala awaits you on this diving trip. Dive along the middle side of Kerala in a fantastic ambience of 8 acres wide quarry dominated with volumes of marine life and rugged surroundings. In the idyllic village of Thiruvankulam, you’ll spend two hours unraveling a world so different from ours.
Your diving session of close to 2 hours can begin anytime between 10am to 4.30pm. After induction on basics of snorkeling, diving types and techniques, you’ll spend around 20 minutes underwater exercising your recent knowledge. As you relax in the waters, you’re sure to be engulfed with a picturesque scene that will leave a mark. Be awarded a certification of participation at the end of your diving session.
The village of Kumarakom lies on the largest stretch of Kerala’s backwaters, the Vembanad Lake. Your day cruise along these meandering streams exposes daily life and activities alongside rich greenery, which never ceases to tire the sight.
From Kochi, you’ll be transferred to Alleppey/ Kumarakom (60km) around 12 noon. A backwater cruise of around 4 – 5 hours presents God’s Own Country in a never before seen light. As you journey along leisurely, catch a glimpse of life as it happens along the shores and cruise through canals fringed with palm groves. Relish the local cuisine as the houseboat staff cooks up a flavorful meal. Resume your journey till sunset and return to Kochi.
Duration: Around 4 -5 hours of backwaters cruise
Unwind with a rafting trip at Kothad that is an island 10 kms away from Kochi, a major port city on the west coast surrounded by the river Periyar. A winding maze of interconnected channels, lagoons and lakes make up the backwaters of Kerala where this activity is conducted.
The paddling session would begin at 3:30 pm, with a brief introduction on safety aspects to be followed while kayaking in the waters. You would be kitted out in buoyancy vests before proceeding for the rafting in the meandering backwaters enclosed by tall coconut trees on both shores. On the way you can view local residents going about their daily life, fishermen angling for a good catch, or vendors ferrying their wares on small boats. This excursion also lends you an opportunity to spot regional birds like kingfishers, ducks, cormorants and darters. Photographs and videos of you propelling your kayak will be taken by staff assisting you on the trip.
Enjoy a merry banana boat ride at Kothad, an island surrounded by the river Periyar, which is the longest river of Kerala, and is 10 kms away from Kochi. The backwaters where the activity is conducted is composed of a meandering network of interconnected channels, lagoons and lakes.
The boat ride would begin at 3:30 pm, with a brief introduction on safety aspects to be followed while you are in the water. You would be kitted out in buoyancy vests before proceeding for the joyride in the winding backwaters with tall coconut trees standing on both shores.
Sit on inflatable boat similar to the shape of a banana. This boat will be connected to a speed boat which drives it through the waters and during the ride, the driver of the powered boat will attempt to toss the banana boat upside-down by making sharp turns. Photographs and videos of you riding the boat and then splashing in the water will be taken by staff supporting you on the trip.
Abut the Activity:
Unravel the hidden water kingdom with snorkeling at Thiruvankulam. A suburb of the port city Kochi, it has several lagoons and canals in its proximity as well as an abandoned quarry,which is filled with accumulated water, at Mamala nearby. This 8 acres wide and 120 feet quarry is where you will experience snorkeling for two hours. You can choose to go for this recreational activity any time between 10 am and 4:30 pm.
Begin with an introduction to safety tips, after which you are trained in snorkeling. Once geared up, enjoy 20 minutes of snorkeling. With wide-ranging underwater visibility, you would be able to see plenty of colourful marine life like fish, sea urchins and corals. Photographs and videos of your underwater experience will be taken by staff supporting you on the trip.
