The best way to experience the glorious heritage of the kingdom of Tipu Sultan is to take a tour of the island of Srirangapatnam in an open jeep. The 4 hour guided trip through the fort city of the 'Tiger of Mysore' will provide you a glimpse of how the Anglo-Mysorean wars were plotted and fought. You will also get a sneak peek at the colonial connections of the city and its linkages with the American and French revolutions. The experience can be undertaken anytime during the day.
Visit places that narrate a story. Colonel Bailey Dungeon is where Colonel Bailey passed away in the 18thcentury. It is said that at the time of siege of Srirangapatna, one cannon rolled back, cut the ceiling and fell into the dungeon. It still lies there today. Tour the Fort where Tippu launched his attack against the British. Inside this fort is a mosque and the Ranganathaswamy Temple. On the outside, you have the tomb of Tippu, the Gumbaz. Also visit the Obelisk, where Tipu Sultan died, while trying to prevent a British soldier from pulling out his legendary sword from its scabbard.

Relive the delightful fictional era of the Malgudi Days as you step into this quaint part of Mysore.
Meet at Town Hall around 4pm proceed in a jeep to catch a glimpse of RK Narayan’s University and his paternal home. The guided tour will take around 3 hours. Rejoice in various places in and around the city which served as inspirations for his famous book The Malgudi Days. You will be shown as to how Mysore served as a base point for his book. After which you will be dropped back to the Mysore Town Hall.
