Jaipur Zoo, also known as the Zoological Garden, is a popular attraction in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Established in 1877, it houses a diverse collection of wildlife, including tigers, lions, and birds, providing educational and recreational experiences for visitors.

Additionally, the Zoo also holds a museum inside it's the premise. The museum depicts the history and the present of the wildlife of the state, Rajasthan. Presently, the zoo carries as many bird species as animals and as of 2018, it has been announced as a bird park as well.

Thus, the zoo has been divided into two sections - The animal section and the other birds and reptile sections. The key animals in Zoo include a varied culture of Black Buck, Baboon, Hyena, Black Bear and Himalayan Bear including birds - White Ibis, Teeter, Peacock, Parrot, Crane, Vulture, Cockatoo, and Painted Stock among others.

Furthermore, the zoo has also become a part of the conservation breeding program which was initiated by the Central Zoo Authority. The program stands to protect the dying species of animals including Gharial, Crocodile, and Cheetal and the inbreeding program has been slowly helping in the preservation of the same.

By road:
 The distance from Jaipur city center to the Jaipur Zoo is about 3.7 km. Visitors can catch local rickshaw and cab service or bus to reach the zoo.

By air: if you are traveling by air the nearest airport is Jaipur Airport which is 10.2 km and can take up to 30 minutes if you use local transportation service including rickshaw and bus service.

By Rail: The nearest railway station from Jaipur Zoo, Jaipur Junction railway station is around 5 km. There is a rickshaw service available near the station that will drop the visitors directly at the Zoo and local bus service from the station is also available for travellers.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Jaipur Zoo is during the winter season between the months of November and February. During this time the weather is dry and the temperatures are neither too hot nor too cold to enjoy an exploratory walk in the zoo.

Additionally, to discover and seek each and every animal and bird species in the zoo, visitors should start their journey a little early in the morning, as it can take some time to wholesomely explore the zoo. During the day, evenings are also a good time to visit the zoo. Around 3:00 PM when the sun starts to set is a great time to visit and explore the animal species here.

Is photography allowed?

Yes, clicking pictures and taking videos in and around the Zoo premise is absolutely allowed. However, no photography or videography should be used for commercial purposes as the place falls under the Government premises. Additionally, the carefully maintained zoo topped with a variety of bird and animal species makes for a fun photography session one must certainly try.
