Get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life as you head
out to this mesmerizing village in Ubud, Bali. Around 2.5 km north of focal
Ubud lays the town of Petulu. Unlike any
other villages in Ubud this town is known for the herons which are seen
assuming control over the entire place. Each evening a great many herons
arrive, hovering over Petulu before subsiding into one of the numerous fig
trees in the town where they will spend the night.
Next morning they leave once
more, just to return again toward the evening. There are many sayings on why
the birds arrive a Petulu consistently. Few people claim is that the herons are
the lost souls of the a huge number of individuals that passed on amid the
counter comrade slaughter in the mid-sixties and for whom there where held a
function in Petulu, soon after the herons began touching base at Petulu and has
proceeded do as such from that point onward.
