About Adam's Peak
Standing tall at the south eastern edge of the hill country, Adam’s Peak (7,360 ft) is one of the most striking features in Sri Lanka. Also, this place is a distinguished pilgrimage in Sri Lanka for more than 1000 years. Adam’s Peak is known as Sri Prada and is believed that Lord Buddha left his sacred footprints while heading towards paradise. Poetically this places is called Samanalakande( Butterfly Mountain where the butterflies end their life).Highlights: Adam’s Peak becomes the liveliest during the month of pilgrimage which starts on Poya day in December and continues through the month of May till the Vesak festival in May. Not just for the pilgrimage. As day break get the perfect view Adam’s Peak as the morning lights reveals the Hill country.
Location: Adam’s Peak is located in the southern reaches of the Central Highlands, in the Ratnapura District and Nuwara Eliya district of the Sabaragamuwa Province and Central Province
