Ashtanmarg: Lying around just 20 km away from the city of Lal Chowk, Ashtanmarg is the new heaven for all adventure seekers visiting Srinagar. Surrounded by greenery and mountains, the small town of Zabarwan range is now the destination of Srinagar’s one of the most popular activities, Paragliding. In 2013, the Department of Tourism in Jammu Kashmir introduced Paragliding activity as a prime sport at Ashtanmarg.

Flying at an altitude of 5300m above the land is a mesmerizing and as well as thrilling experience in itself. This adventurous aerial sport of Paragliding here allows you to witness the unparalleled panoramic view of the whole Ashtanmarg while floating in the sky.

Location:  Paragliding Takeoff Point Road Astanmarg, Harwan Dhara Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir.
The location is just 15km away from Srinagar. You can easily get a cab to reach the spot within 20 mins from there.

Timing: Every day 9 am – 3 pm. However, the total ride of the paragliding experience will last for 15 minutes.

Price: The prices of Paragliding in Srinagar depends on the season and timing. On average, the pricing ranges upto 2700/- INR per person flying above the altitude of 5300m to 7400ft in Ashtanmarg.

Is it safe to do paragliding in Srinagar?

Yes, absolutely! You will be guided by certified trainers who have prior experience on such activities. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about your safety.  However, there are certain people who should abstain themselves from such activities : pregnant women, people with heart disease, people suffering from Sinus, ear infection, claustrophobia, and so on. Also, children under 6 years old are not allowed for such activities.

What is the best time to visit Srinagar for paragliding?

During the Summer season the sky remains clear in Srinagar, allowing you to enjoy the whole view of this Paradise valley clearly from such a high altitude. Therefore, any day between May to July will be an ideal time to experience the thrill of Srinagar paragliding. During this period little rainfall can create an obstacle, but you don’t have to worry much as no snowfall happens in the Summer season.
