Kashmir Holiday Packages from Mumbai

Reviewed by Thrillophilia Kashmir Operations Team

Updated as of April 2026

Thrillophilia Kashmir tour packages from Mumbai start at INR 13,000 and have just become so much easier to book. After a long day of work, even Mumbai feels unwelcoming with too much heat, too many crowds, and too much pressure, but not enough relaxation. Well, we think you should apply for leave right away.

With a direct flight from BOM under 2.5 hours, we understand why Mumbai travellers love Kashmir. Coming from a city of more than 20 million, Kashmir’s snow and silence transport you to another world entirely. Sipping on kahwa in the middle of Dal Lake on your houseboat at night, no international destination can rival that feeling.

We noticed an increasing hunger for premium experiences among our Mumbai travellers, and we delivered. Private houseboats on Dal Lake, curated Mughal Garden breakfasts, and guided treks that don’t feel lazily copied from some website. We at Thrillophilia design our packages to let you experience those rare feelings, not just the destination. Every itinerary is specifically designed with you in mind.

All you need is 5–7 days to completely unwind from the constant hustle of Mumbai. Step back and let us take care of everything, with thoughtfully curated packages that handle every aspect of your trip, from smooth transfers to well-planned sightseeing.

Why Mumbaikers Love Kashmir

  • Direct Flights Under 3 Hours – There are multiple direct flight routes from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet offer daily flights to Kashmir, which makes it one of the most accessible destinations for Mumbaikers.
  • Mumbai’s Humidity Vs Kashmir’s Pleasant Weather – This is one of the main reasons nearly 68% of our travellers (as per our booking team) choose Kashmir over Mumbai. They simply want to escape the city’s heat for a few days. The moment you land, Kashmir’s cool and crisp air feels instantly different. For many travellers, that first breath itself becomes the moment they start falling in love with the place.
  • Feels Like a European Destination – Kashmir is often compared to Switzerland. With the snow-capped mountains and the beautiful valleys, every slope feels like something out of a small European town.
  • A Complete Escape – Mumbai is as tiring as it is rewarding. A trip to Kashmir from Mumbai is one of the fastest ones you can plan. And yet, it gives you a completely different scene – one where you can forget about all your worries and just relax for a couple of days.
  • The Romantic Capital – Maybe we owe Bollywood a thank you for this one. Kashmir is chosen by 65%+ of our Mumbai travellers as their favourite honeymoon destination. The Mughal gardens, saffron fields, and evening rides in shikaras contribute to some of the most romantic experiences.

Expert Tip:

Sonamarg remains one of Kashmir’s most striking destinations, known for its untouched beauty and glacier views that draw travellers from across the world. Since it gets crowded quickly, visiting early often makes a big difference. You get more time to enjoy the landscape peacefully, and if you plan to take a pony ride, you may also avoid paying higher charges later in the day.

How to Reach Kashmir From Mumbai

The easiest way to reach Kashmir from Mumbai is by a direct flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. It takes approximately 2.5 hours with no stops. Layover flights, however, can take up to 5-8 hours. You can also travel by train, but it takes over 24 hours to reach Kashmir that way.

If You’re Travelling by Flight

  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport
  • Distance: 1674 km
  • Average Flight time: 2 hours 48 minutes
  • Airlines: SpiceJet, Air India, and IndiGo
  • Return fare: INR 8,000 - INR 14,000+, depending on season
  • Thrillophilia Insight:

If you’re planning to visit in peak season (March - August), make sure to book your tickets at least 2 months in advance. Otherwise, you’d have to pay spiked prices for high-demand flights.

If You’re Travelling by Train

  • There are no direct trains from Mumbai to Kashmir.
  • Swaraj Express (12471) is the fastest train available, taking 28 hours to reach Jammu Tawi from Bandra Terminus.
  • The general route is from Mumbai to Jammu Tawi, a distance of 1,881 km.
  • From Jammu Tawi Railway Station, you’d have to take a bus or taxi to reach Srinagar. (7-10 hours)
  • Train fares typically range between INR 485 and INR 4870.

Thrillophilia Insight:

If your priority is to make your trip economical, you can go ahead with the train route. However, this option will tire you out due to its duration. We don’t recommend this route, especially if you’re travelling with senior citizens or children.

Mumbai Travellers’ Favourite Places to Visit on a Kashmir Trip

Srinagar: The Summer Capital Of Kashmir

Srinagar is practically the base for most trips to Kashmir. The evening shikara rides on Dal Lake, exploring the famous Mughal Gardens, and most of all, the silence, all of it transports you into a world so unlike the Bandra traffic that you’re used to.

Expert Tips:

  • Srinagar is a place to relax. Don’t rush to cover everything the moment you get there. We have already designed your itinerary with enough leisure time so that you get to truly experience each attraction.
  • We’d recommend making your shikara ride a little less common. Don’t go for the main lake route, but ask your boatman to take you through the inner channels. We promise you, the visuals are worth it.
  • Don’t run to cover all the gardens. Relax and take help from our local experts to pick the best ones and explore them.

Gulmarg: The Glorious Slopes of Kashmir

Gulmarg is one of those places that’re beautiful no matter what time you visit. But most travellers choose winter to see the snow-covered slopes of Gulmarg. From the famous gondola ride, the snow below catches the winter sun in a way that feels almost unreal. The entire view has the kind of beauty you usually expect only in films.

The gondola experience is divided into three phases. It begins with the first phase from Gulmarg to Kongdoori, then continues to Aparwat Peak in the second phase. The third and final phase is a chairlift that takes travellers to Mary’s Shoulders, one of the area’s most popular skiing spots.

Thrillophilia Insight:

  • Gulmarg Gondola’s Phase 2 is gorgeous. Once you see the glaciers, the snow, and the terrain below you, you won’t ever forget the scenery. However, always check the weather conditions before you decide to go higher for your safety.
  • We’d recommend not taking pony rides where not necessary. They can sometimes be overpriced and rushed, especially if you’re visiting during the peak season. If you can, walk along the meadows to actually experience the place.

Pahalgam: The Starting Point of Betaab Valley

Pahalgam is heaven for all nature lovers. The treks through Aru Valley and Betaab Valley let you experience some of the most beautiful sceneries you’ve ever seen. It’s enough to rival some international spots. You’d be surprised to see how bustling yet peaceful it is.

Expert Tips:

  • If you want to take it one step further, go for an overnight camp here. You get to experience both the sunset and sunrise with this.
  • Baisaran is famously known as ‘Mini Switzerland’. Make sure you visit it as early as you can because the late-morning crowd can be overwhelming.
  • The only way that you can truly enjoy Kashmir is when you stop thinking too much about your itinerary. Don’t focus on how many places you have yet to cover. Just look and feel what’s in front of you.

Yusmarg: The Hikers’ Choice

Yusmarg is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Its trails and scenery attract thousands of hiking-loving travellers each year. But if you’re not into hiking, don't worry. Yusmarg is also a great picnic spot. It’s not as crowded as Pahalgam either, so if you like peaceful places, you’ll love Yusmarg.

Thrillophilia Insight:

  • Many treat Yusmarg as a quick stop. If you’re fed up with the crowds in Pahalgam or Gulmarg, slow down in Yusmarg. Reach early and just unwind for a few hours.
  • Yusmarg is a very walkable place. We don’t recommend taking pony or horse rides unless necessary.

Sonamarg: The Heart of Kashmir

This is the home of the Thajiwas Glacier. A glacier, formed by Himalayan glacial systems, surrounded by pine forests, meadows and mountains. This is something only Kashmir is capable of offering in all of India. Some popular treks, like the Vishansar Trek and Krishansar Trek, start from Sonamarg.

Expert Tips:

  • Don’t rely entirely on digital payments here. Make sure you carry enough cash because the network isn’t always stable.
  • The weather in this region can change quickly, so it is always wise to carry an extra layer or two in case the temperature drops unexpectedly.
  • If you don't leave Srinagar for Sonamarg by 5-6 am, you won’t be able to avoid the huge tourist rush along with the traffic.

What’s The Best Time to Visit Kashmir From Mumbai

Kashmir is a very well-rounded destination when it comes to the season. Even the rainy season in Kashmir, although it does limit activities, is beautiful. Each area has something different to offer for each season, so we decided to compile it all here for your trip.

Peak Season (April - June): 15°C – 30°C

This window is perfect for when you don't want to live in Mumbai’s 33–38°C heat. And even better, all the gardens are in near-perfect bloom during this time in Kashmir. And without the snow, most routes are open, so re-routing doesn’t take away half of your day. But it also has its disadvantages. Flights and hotels, during this window, are priced at 20-25% more than usual. To avoid this, you have to book at least 2-3 months in advance.

Expert Tip: To escape the crowds for hikes, rafting and gondola rides, try to get one of their earliest slots. If you’re lucky, you might also get them for cheaper than the midday rates.

Shoulder Season (September - October): 10°C – 25°C

If you plan to travel in this window, pack a good amount of layers for your trip. The golden Chinar trees are what draw people during this time. The peak prices are gone, the weather is pleasant enough to do all the activities, and the crowd mostly thins out.

Expert Tip: Keep your outdoor activities for the afternoon, because the mornings are usually foggy and misty. It can be especially dangerous for hikes or treks.

Low Season (November - March): 2°C – 10°C

Although it is technically the low season, a great deal of travellers visit during this window for the snow. Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg are genuinely a sight to behold during this time. But it does have its limitations. Due to heavy snowfall, admission in those regions might be limited. This is why you can get 10-15% cheaper rates for both flights and hotels if you choose to travel in this season.

Expert Tip: Cold weather in Kashmir needs a little planning, so pack your layers thoughtfully rather than relying on bulky clothing alone. Waterproof shoes are especially useful in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, where wet ground and snow are common.

Thrillophilia’s Tips for Mumbaikers

  • The best windows for Mumbai to Kashmir trips are Ganesh Chaturthi (August–September), Dussehra–Diwali (October), Christmas–New Year (December–January), and school summer breaks (April–May). We suggest booking your package at least 60 days in advance to avoid peak pricing.
  • If you are planning to travel via Jammu during the monsoon months of July and August, keep in mind that NH44 is prone to landslides during this period, which can lead to delays. Flying directly into Srinagar is usually the more reliable option at that time.
  • Before your trip is finalised, take a careful look through your itinerary and make sure every transfer, stay, and activity matches your expectations.
  • We also recommend adding travel insurance to your package, which usually costs between INR 500 and INR 900 per person. It can be especially helpful in case of medical emergencies, cancellations, or unexpected disruptions during the trip.

Why Should You Trust Thrillophilia for Your Mumbai to Kashmir Tour

Before you choose to travel with us, it is worth understanding why so many travellers trust Thrillophilia for important journeys. We believe in complete transparency because once your trip begins, delivering a smooth and dependable experience becomes our responsibility.

  • We are Mumbai’s most-booked Kashmir specialist, with a rating of 4.6 from over 15,000 travellers. We have successfully designed Kashmir itineraries for more than 10,000 Indian travellers.
  • All our packages are 100% customisable. Whether you want houseboat upgrades, extra trekking routes, Gulmarg skiing, or a Wazwan dinner, we arrange it based on what suits your trip best.
  • We also offer 24/7 on-ground support across all Kashmir tours, regardless of package tier. We coordinate with Thrillophilia-verified local operators and experts according to your itinerary, and if any issues come up, assistance is available with minimal wait time.

Kashmir in April — tulips at Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden were in full bloom and the backdrop of snow-capped peaks made it feel unreal. The houseboat stay on Dal Lake was a completely unique experience. Arjun from Thrillophilia had suggested the April timing specifically for the tulip festival and it was indeed a brilliant suggestion. Transfers from Srinagar airport were seamless. Kashmir Tours From mumbai FAQs

Is it safe to visit Kashmir from Mumbai in 2026-2027?

It is safe if you stick within tourist-safe zones. There are very clear signs in all regions that specify the tourist-safe routes. On top of that, Kashmir is heavily guarded by the police and army personnel at all times to ensure civilian safety.

What is the cheapest month to book Kashmir flights from Mumbai?

November. It has the lowest average flight fare (INR 7,000 - INR 8,000), according to Kayak’s flight data. Due to low demand in November, hotel prices are also lower.

What should I pack for a Kashmir trip from Mumbai, especially for Gulmarg in winter?

Pack thermals and fleece for your inner layers and waterproof jackets for outer layers. Ensure that all your accessories (gloves, socks, and shoes) are waterproof. We would advise against packing heavy clothing meant only for fashion.

Will I face altitude sickness coming from Mumbai to Gulmarg or Sonamarg?

Gulmarg (2650 m) and Sonamarg (2700 m) are of medium altitudes. Chances of any serious issues are very rare. Make sure you are hydrated and feel energised enough before travelling to the heights. We’d suggest carrying some medication just in case.

Are Thrillophilia's Kashmir packages suitable for senior citizens?

For senior citizens, we’d recommend choosing a package with a slower pace. When informed, we design age-sensitive itineraries for seniors. Private cars, less adventurous routes and ground-floor accommodations are some of the elements we include for a senior traveller.

What is the Kashmir Tulip Festival, and when should I plan my trip around it?

The Kashmir Tulip Festival is Kashmir’s famous springtime flower festival from late March to the middle of April. It's held in the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. As per our booking team, over 80% of our Mumbai travellers during this time mark this as a trip highlight.

Should I live on a houseboat on my Kashmir trip if I have young children?

As memorable as they are for your experience, houseboats are unsuitable for very young children. With open water all around you, children would need proper supervision at all times. Make sure to check it with your houseboat operator beforehand.

How different is Kashmir’s weather from Mumbai's?

There’s a huge difference between Mumbai's and Kashmir’s weather. Kashmir’s peak summer temperature is within 30°C, while Mumbai’s peak summer temperature varies between 35 and 40°C.

What is the average cost for a Kashmir trip from Mumbai?
