What Is Included in a Thrillophilia Kashmir Tour Plan From Kolkata

Every one of Thrillophilia's tour packages from Kolkata to Kashmir is built around the same core inclusions, with upgrades available depending on the category chosen.

  • Accommodation in hotels like Orchid Retreat and Spa in Srinagar, Radisson Golf Resort in Pahalgam, and Vintage or Highlands Spa in Gulmarg, or in Dal Lake houseboats such as SWAN and Khilona, with upgraded options like Taj Vivanta and Mughal Sheraton available on premium tour packages from Kolkata to Kashmir.
  • Breakfast daily, and on most itineraries a buffet dinner as well, served under the MAP meal plan.
  • Airport pickup and drop at Srinagar International Airport, timed to match your flight into the valley.
  • A comfortable sanitised vehicle, Sedan, SUV, or Tempo Traveller depending on group size, for all sightseeing days and intercity transfers between Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • A friendly, experienced driver cum guide for the length of the trip.
  • Guided sightseeing covering Dal Lake, the Mughal Gardens (Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh), the Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1, and a Betaab Valley or Aru Valley excursion in Pahalgam.
  • A Shikara ride on Dal Lake, included on nearly every Kashmir package from Kolkata.
  • All toll taxes, parking charges, and driver allowances, covered within the package cost.

Best Time to Visit Kashmir From Kolkata

Kashmir has something to offer through every season, and the right timing for a Kashmir tour plan from Kolkata depends on whether you are chasing gardens, snow, or a cooler escape from Kolkata's heat.

Winter (December to February): Snow Season

  • Gulmarg receives its heaviest snowfall, with the Gondola running to Phase 2 at approximately 3,980 metres, the only window for a genuine snow experience.
  • Heavy snow pushes flight delay and cancellation rates at Srinagar airport to their highest point of the year, and road access to Pahalgam can close for days.
  • Book your Kashmir tour plan from Kolkata a month or more in advance for this season and keep a buffer day on each side of the itinerary.

Spring (March to May): Garden Season

  • The Tulip Garden in Srinagar peaks between late March and mid-April, with over 1.5 million tulips across 30 hectares on the Zabarwan mountain, among the largest tulip displays in Asia.
  • By May, Srinagar averages 20°C to 30°C, the Gondola runs on both phases without weather disruption, and roads stay clear across all three bases.
  • Families travelling from Kolkata often prefer April to June, when school holidays align and every base suits a wider age range.

Summer (June to August): Peak Escape Season

  • When Kolkata's temperature crosses 35°C to 40°C, Kashmir's valley bases at 1,585 metres and above offer a cool escape only about 3 hours away by direct flight, making this the busiest window for any Kashmir tour from Kolkata.
  • June and the Durga Puja period in October are peak booking months, pushing flight fares and hotel rates 20 to 40 percent above off season levels.
  • July and August bring monsoon conditions, with landslide risk on the Srinagar to Pahalgam and Srinagar to Sonamarg routes, making this stretch one to avoid for a Kashmir trip from Kolkata.

Autumn (September to October): Quiet Season

  • Couples and honeymooners often prefer this window, when Srinagar settles at 10°C to 20°C and crowds thin out considerably.
  • October brings the strongest autumn colour across Pahalgam and the Chinar trees around Dal Lake, alongside the Durga Puja travel window from Kolkata.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar, Dal Lake Shikara ride and houseboat stay

11 Days / 10 Nights (Kashmir with Ladakh) itinerary

Must-Visit Places in Kashmir

Kashmir is not a destination you tick off attraction by attraction. Understanding what each place your visit in Kashmir actually offers helps shape a better Kashmir tour plan from Kolkata.

Dal Lake and the Srinagar Shikara Ride

In Srinagar Dal Lake is best experienced at first light, between 6 am and 8 am, when the floating vegetable and flower markets are active and the water stays calm before the day's tourist traffic builds up. Srinagar works best as a 2 to 3 night base at the start of the trip, giving enough time for the lake, the old city lanes around Jamia Masjid, and at least one Mughal garden before moving on to Gulmarg or Pahalgam.

Mughal Gardens and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden

Of Srinagar's Mughal gardens, Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh are the most visited. Nishat Bagh sits on the eastern shore of Dal Lake across 12 terraced levels, while Shalimar Bagh was built by Emperor Jahangir in 1619. Both are best visited in the morning before tour groups arrive. One of our verified travellers, Purnima Das who booked the Best of Kashmir | Free Excursion to Yusmarg package was so thrilled with the experience that she said, “The tulip gardens were in full bloom, and Gulmarg still had patches of snow which was enough for us since we wanted the experience without extreme winter conditions. Everything was managed smoothly."

Gulmarg and the Gondola Circuit

The Gulmarg Gondola runs in two phases, with Phase 1 reaching Kongdori at approximately 2,650 metres and Phase 2 continuing to Apharwat Peak at approximately 3,980 metres, where snow stays on the ground well into May. Phase 2 tickets sell out fast during May, June, and the ski season, so reaching the counter before 8 am matters if a same day slot is needed.

Pahalgam and Betaab Valley

Pahalgam serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, which draws large numbers of visitors between June and August each year. Betaab Valley, named after the 1983 Bollywood film shot on location here, is best seen alongside the Lidder River between April and October. Both destinations are included in most Kashmir family tour packages, offering easy accessibility and gentle, low-effort sightseeing suited to travellers of all ages.

Sonamarg and the Thajiwas Glacier

The Thajiwas Glacier near Sonamarg is accessible on foot or by horse from the main meadow, with snow visible even during summer months. Since the road from Srinagar can be affected by snow and landslides outside the May to October window, this excursion works best as an add-on rather than a core stop on a shorter Kashmir package from Kolkata.

Shankaracharya Temple and the Old City

Perched on a hilltop above Srinagar, Shankaracharya Temple is an ancient shrine reached by a climb of around 240 steps, with views over Dal Lake and the city below. It pairs well with a walk through the old city lanes around Lal Chowk and Polo View Market.

Things to Do on a Kashmir Trip

Beyond the standard sightseeing stops, a few experiences consistently stand out on any Kashmir holiday booked from Kolkata whether you are planning your honeymoon, family tour or you are choosing Kashmir group tour packages.

Watch the Floating Vegetable Market at Dawn

Reach Dal Lake between 6 am and 7 am to see the floating vegetable and flower vendors trading directly from their boats, a daily ritual that predates organised tourism in Srinagar.

Ride the Gondola to Apharwat Peak

Take the Gulmarg Gondola through both phases to reach Apharwat Peak at approximately 3,980 metres, where snow is visible even outside the winter months and views stretch across the surrounding Pir Panjal range.

Walk the Pahalgam to Aru Valley Trail

Cover the roughly 11 kilometre trail from Pahalgam town to Aru Valley through pine forest and open meadow, best attempted between May and October.

Try a Traditional Wazwan Feast

Sample Kashmiri Wazwan, a multi course meal built around dishes like Rogan Josh, Yakhni, and Gushtaba, at established Srinagar restaurants. It is worth booking ahead, since a proper Wazwan spread takes time to prepare.

Watch the Sunset from Shankaracharya Temple

Climb the 240 steps to Shankaracharya Temple in the late afternoon for views over Dal Lake and the city as the light fades.

Shop for Pashmina and Papier-Mache

Browse Lal Chowk and Polo View Market for Pashmina shawls, papier-mache boxes, and walnut wood carvings, comparing quality across a few shops before buying.

Best Restaurants to Try in Kashmir

Food is a core part of any Kashmir trip from Kolkata, built around Wazwan and the everyday comfort of a cup of Kahwa. As one of our travellers from Kolkata, Debojeet B., who booked the Splendors of Kashmir package in January 2026, mentioned in his review, the temperature was intensely cold, but a warm cup of Kahwa made all the difference.

  • Ahdoos Restaurant Established in 1918 on Residency Road, Ahdoos is one of Srinagar's oldest running restaurants, known for its Wazwan spread and its attached bakery. Its Rogan Josh and Kashmiri Pulao are consistently recommended by long time visitors.
  • Mughal Darbar Located in Srinagar's Rajbagh area, Mughal Darbar is a popular choice for Wazwan among families, with a diverse menu covering both Kashmiri and Mughlai dishes at reasonable prices.
  • Chai Jaai One of Srinagar's most photographed cafes, Chai Jaai is worth a stop for Kashmiri Kahwa and Noon Chai alongside a relaxed setting away from the main sightseeing route.
  • Houseboat Wazwan Evenings Many Dal Lake houseboats arrange an in-house Wazwan dinner on request, cooked by a local Waza and served on a traditional Trami, a good option for travellers who want the full experience without booking a separate restaurant.

Local Shopping Guide

Shopping is a natural extension of any Kashmir package from Kolkata, with a few categories worth focused attention.

  • Pashmina Shawls: Genuine Pashmina is hand spun from the underdown of the Changthangi goat and is noticeably lighter and softer than machine made wool blends sold under the same name. Buying from a registered emporium in Srinagar reduces the risk of picking up a mislabelled shawl.
  • Papier-Mache: Papier-mache boxes, ornaments, and trays are hand painted in fine detail, often with floral or Mughal motifs. Prices vary widely with the level of detail, so comparing a few pieces before buying gives a better sense of quality.
  • Walnut Wood Carving: Kashmir's walnut wood, sourced largely from trees around Srinagar and Baramulla, is carved into furniture, jewellery boxes, and decorative panels. Look for consistent grain and finish, since lower grade wood is sometimes used under the same carving style.
  • Carpets and Rugs: Hand knotted Kashmiri carpets, often in silk or a silk wool blend, take months to complete and are priced accordingly. Asking for a knot count and comparing it across shops is the simplest way to judge quality before committing to a purchase.

Why Choose Thrillophilia for Your Kashmir Tour From Kolkata

Thrillophilia's Kashmir tour package from Kolkata is built around route logic rather than attraction volume, with Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam given the right amount of time and stay choices between houseboats and hotels explained clearly before booking. Our destination experts have spent years refining our tour packages from Kolkata to Kashmir, factoring in direct flight windows, one-stop fallback options, and seasonal booking advice that generic Kashmir pages tend to skip.

On the ground, Thrillophilia's 24/7 support covers practical realities like Gondola ticket timing at Gulmarg, Shikara coordination for early morning houseboat departures, and intercity transfer scheduling between valley bases. We match your Srinagar airport transfer to your Kolkata flight arrival and stay reachable around the clock across Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam if anything needs attention on the ground.

Travellers comparing options often search for a Kashmir tour package from Kolkata kundu special alongside Thrillophilia's offerings, since Kundu Special is one of the more established Kolkata based agencies running Kashmir departures.

Whichever operator you choose, it is worth comparing exact inclusions, cancellation terms, and on-ground support hours side by side, since the Kolkata to Kashmir tour package price alone rarely tells the full story. A genuinely best Kashmir tour package from Kolkata is one where the Gondola and Shikara charges are called out separately from the base cost, so there are no surprises once you are in the valley. One of our verified travellers, Deepak Srivatsa who booked the Best of Kashmir | FREE Excursion to Sonmarg package, was so satisfied with the overall experience that he said, “Really splendid experience, we were able to cover all the places planned and the guide/driver was helpful. The tour manager Yash co ordinated excellent and was very knowledgeable and helpful. I will Recommend Trillophilia for vacations.”

Kashmir Tours From kolkata FAQs

What is the starting price of a Kashmir tour package from Kolkata?

Kashmir tour packages from Kolkata start from INR 11,186 per person for a 4-day, 3-night itinerary. A 5-night classic valley circuit covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam typically costs between INR 19,000 and INR 84,000 per person depending on stay category, season, and whether Gondola or houseboat upgrades are included.

Are there direct flights from Kolkata to Srinagar?

Yes, IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet currently operate direct services from Kolkata (CCU) to Srinagar (SXR), with most departures in the early morning and an average flight time of 3 hours and 15 minutes. Direct schedules can shift by season, so verify availability at the time of booking rather than assuming the route runs uniformly year-round.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip from Kolkata?

Five nights is the most practical starting point for a first Kashmir trip from Kolkata, covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam without compressing any base. If leave is limited, a focused Srinagar plus Gulmarg plan works within 3 nights and 4 days as long as the direct flight timing aligns.

What is the best time to visit Kashmir from Kolkata?

May and June work best for first-time visitors, with all three bases fully accessible and the Gulmarg Gondola running on both phases. For snow, December through February is the right window with Gulmarg as the primary base, and September to October suits travellers who prefer quieter valley conditions and cooler temperatures.

Is Kashmir safe for tourists from Kolkata in 2026?

As of May 2026, Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam are all open to tourists with no travel restrictions and high security presence across all major tourist corridors. A new QR code verification system allows tourists to confirm the authenticity of taxi drivers, guides, and pony handlers before engaging any service.

Should I choose a houseboat or hotel stay in Srinagar?

One or two houseboat nights on Dal Lake adds a distinct experience to any Srinagar stay, but spending all nights on the lake limits mobility for early morning departures to Gulmarg or Pahalgam. A mix of one houseboat night and hotel stays for the rest of the Srinagar base works best for most travellers.

What is the best Kashmir route from Kolkata for 5 to 7 days?

A 5-night route covering Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam is the strongest first-trip circuit from Kolkata, with two nights in Srinagar, one in Gulmarg, and two in Pahalgam giving a balanced spread across the valley. For 6 to 7 nights, adding Sonamarg works well if the season supports it, particularly between May and October when the road stays clear.

Do prepaid SIM cards work in Kashmir?

Prepaid SIM cards from other Indian states stop working in Jammu and Kashmir. Only postpaid mobile connections from networks including Jio, Airtel, and BSNL are active in the region, so activate a postpaid roaming plan before leaving Kolkata or pick up a local Jammu and Kashmir SIM on arrival.

What does the Gulmarg Gondola cost and how do I book it?

The Gulmarg Gondola runs in two phases, with Phase 1 to Kongdori costing around INR 740 per person and Phase 2 to Apharwat Peak at approximately 3,980 metres costing around INR 1,400 to INR 1,700 per person depending on season. Tickets are available at the cable car counter in Gulmarg, and arriving before 8 AM on the day significantly improves your chances of securing a Phase 2 slot during peak season.

Is Kolkata a good starting city for a Kashmir trip?

Kolkata is one of the more practical domestic gateways for Kashmir because of the direct flight option to Srinagar, which keeps total travel time under 3 hours and 15 minutes on average. Compared to city origins that rely entirely on one-stop connections, Kolkata travellers have a genuine air-access advantage that makes shorter Kashmir trips of 4 to 5 nights more viable without losing a full day in transit.
