Sheikh ul-Alam Airport sits 15 kilometres from Srinagar city centre and connects well to major Indian cities.

By Air

Direct flights run from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. From Delhi, flight time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Air India (including former Vistara routes, merged November 2024), IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India Express operate regularly on this route.

By Rail

Banihal is the nearest major railhead, linked via the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link. A taxi from Banihal to Srinagar takes 2 to 2.5 hours.

By Road

Srinagar connects to Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu, and Leh by bus and cab. The Jammu-Srinagar highway covers approximately 270 kilometres and takes 7 to 8 hours. Road conditions can slow down in winter, especially on the Banihal Pass stretch.

3. Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden: Asia's largest tulip garden, with 48 varieties across seven terraces below the Zabarwan range. Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the only place in Srinagar to see the tulip bloom at this scale.

4. Nishat Bagh: The second-largest Mughal garden, Nishat Bagh was built in 1633 across 12 terraces lined with chinar trees. It sits 2 kilometres from Shalimar Bagh, so both gardens fit into one morning.

5. Chashme Shahi: The smallest of the three Mughal Gardens, Chashme Shahi was built in 1632 around a natural spring. It draws fewer crowds than Shalimar or Nishat, which suits couples wanting a quieter stop.

6. Char Chinar: A small island on Dal Lake, Char Chinar is accessible only by shikara, marked by four chinar trees at each corner. October turns the trees gold and amber, which is the best time to see the island.

7. Pari Mahal: A hillside terrace garden above Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal was originally built as a centre for Islamic learning. The top terrace gives a combined view of Srinagar city and Dal Lake, best seen at sunset.
