Darjeeling

About the Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling:Arraying beyond the sea point to a few hundred meters, the dales of Kanchenjunga exhibit amazing land diversity. Exceeding through the numerous tea estates and heavily wooded dells, Kanchenjunga is overloaded with vast stretches of alpine pastures. The trek to Khadchendzonga or Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling is a challenging one. For some, it may sound strenuous and challenging, while for all others, the trek is a sight of delight. Initially, Kanchenjunga trekking was prohibited, later, the trekkers started unwinding the different trekking routes to make their own way. This leads to the exploration of hidden treasures of the Kanchenjunga valley such as tribal villages, gorgeous lakes, abundant flora and fauna, and dense forest covers.  On your way to Kanchenjunga, be ready to treat your eyes with the delightful vistas of a misty cloud-based canopy, snow-blanketed gleaming mountain ranges, and vast stretches of dramatic landscapes. Your trek to Kanchenjunga begins from Darjeeling which is populated by the presence of vastly stretched tea estates. Luxuriantly thick covers of pines, rhododendrons, spruces, yak pastures, green meadows, and giant magnolia forests – all sums up the charming beauty of Darjeeling. With numerous stopover points such as Yuksom, Sachen, Tshokha, Phedang, Dzongri, Thangshing, Goecha Lamuney the trek becomes a bit difficult to endure for time-bound adventure enthusiasts. Thus, just like the Zanskar Valley trek, this trek too can be accomplished with small trekking journeys for people strapped tightly to their time zone. No matter what time you can dedicate for trekking here, trekking to Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling is undoubtedly going to bloat you with a bundle of memories so that you revisit the spot either in person or in reality. Except for Monsoons and peak winters, every other season is best to put your adrenaline to pump faster than ever with this not so tricky trek. While the routes may turn out to be slippery in monsoons, you may face the extremities of heavy snowfall in winters. Quick Facts:Kanchenjunga Temperature: 10 to 15 degrees in the morning and 2 to 5 degrees at nightKanchenjunga Trekking Distance:  90kmKanchenjunga Height : 17,000ftDifficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult  Base Camp: Yuksom

One of the 3rd highest peaks in the world is Kanchenjunga and this is one of the most admired tracks. In Sikkim, there is a Singalila track which covers the political boundary between Sikkim and Nepal. This trek has a tract of land. Which have lack of trees and excess of rocky hills are there. At Singalila we can add the grassy and folds meadow of Singalila delight. This can offer the majestic view of the Himalayan treks. It is also said that the Singalila trek of Sikkim houses a blissful environment. The lakes of the Singalila add a perfect charm to the ambience of this trekking in sikkim. This journey begins in Darjeeling, which is a Friendly and relaxed town with an interesting mixture of the days of the Raj and a vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture. We will visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Snow Leopard Breeding Centre and a major Tibetan Buddhist monastery, we will also have the chance to take a ride on the famous 'Toy Train' and wander round the busy bazaar area. We will find this trek very significant to the mountain peaks, plants, a series of waterfall, strongly flowing of water, this can contain beautiful monasteries as well as the hills. So thats why Sikkim offers it with experiences as well as very rare. Most of the dwellings in Sikkim are rustic, consisting of a bamboo frame, woven with pliable bamboo and coated with cow dung, providing a warm interior. In the higher elevations, houses are made of wood. Sikkim is one of the few states in India to receive regular snowfall. It is interesting to note that various ethnic groups of Sikkim have their own classification for Sikkim the Nepalese call it Sukhim or new home, while Tibetans refer to it as Denzong or the valley of rice and to the Lepchas, Sikkim is Nye-al-Ale or heaven. A similar kind of popular trek is the trek to Singalila.

I thought I was going for a trek, but instead I went on a self actualisation trip. It had everything- fun, workout, snow, car journey, bonfire, and anything else you can imagine. Before the trip I was quite skeptical, whether or not I would be able to do it, whether or not the weather and conditions would be favourable, but it all worked out. Our trek guides, Bishu and Sasang, were both so amazing, so motivating, and so supportive, that they made our trip a success. At one point, I wasn’t sure if I could continue on this trek, since my legs were giving up, but our guide motivated us, told us we’re almost there, and made us complete the journey. We took shortcuts, we clicked pictures, we went 2km along the mountains just to see the beautiful sunset hiding in the clouds beneath us, and we came back changed. I recommend this trip to anyone who is reading this. The trek is for beginners with will power, and the journey is going to memorable for years, if not more.

The best thing about the trip was our guide Vikram Da..and we generally call him Vikram. He made sure to make us comfortable and ensured our needs to be taken care of. The only thing i would ask Thrilillophilia to do is club people of similar ages and not club a 55-60 yr old person with a group of youngsters. There are differences in mental and physical attributes.

The trek has a famous point from where you can see the clouds in a sleeping buddha position and it was the best view. There were also local tales about Kalanag, a black water lake, and listening to different stories about it from the locals were fun and exciting. Watching mountain ranges and beautiful views make the visit worthwhile.
