- Keep in mind about the outfit you choose to wear. Check the local weather conditions and consider wearing warm clothing as the viewpoint is at a considerable altitude. As regards the footwear, ensure that you have your sneakers or comfortable walking shoes as you will be able to explore the top only on foot.

Wear sunglasses to avoid the blinding glare of the sun at such altitudes. 

Sunset time is the ideal time of the day to visit Harder Kulm especially if you are eager for the picture postcard shots of the Alps and the surrounding landscape. 

If you are not choosing to hike the trail, the funicular ride is the only option to reach the summit.

How long does it take to hike Harder Kulm?

The 4 km-long hiking trail starts from the Interlaken Ost station and zigzags its way up to an altitude of 1322 m. The difference in altitude from the base to the peak is about 809 m and the approximate time taken the entire hike is around 2 ½ hrs.

Can you drive to Harder Kulm?

It's not possible to drive to Harder Kulm up to the summit because of the rugged terrain from the Interlaken Ost station. However, you can hire a ride upto the Interlaken Ost station. A short walk from this station leads to the Harder Kulm funicular from where you can take a ride to the summit.

Is Harder Kulm free with Swiss Pass?

With a Swiss Pass, you can avail 50% discount on the funicular railway ticket to Harder Kulm. The Swiss pass covers almost the entire network of the Swiss transport – boats, rail and bus, with discounts on mountain top trains and cable cars, along with free entries to many museums in the region.
