About Cappella Brancacci

The Cappella Brancacci is a chapel in the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine in Florence, central Italy. It is sometimes called the Sistine Chapel of the early Renaissance for its artworks, which include three paintings by Masaccio and a cycle of frescoes by Masolino and Masaccio.

The chapel's decoration was commissioned by Felice Brancacci and dates to 1422. The series of frescoes is considered to be one of the most important examples of early Renaissance painting and has been much studied and admired by artists and art historians for its use of linear perspective and lifelike figures. Some of the major interests of the church include the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, The temptation of Adam and Eve and also the ceiling that was decorated by the great artist, Giovanni Domenico Ferretti.
