Museo Nacional Del Prado is an art museum designed by architect Juan de Villanueva, with a beautiful Neoclassical architectural style, commissioned by king Charles III. The museum was named the National Museum of Paintings and Sculptures before it was named the Prado museum. The museum first had over 300 paintings that were dedicated to Spanish culture and artists. At present, the museum has over 7500 paintings along with sculptures, drawings, photographs, and decorative artwork. Some of the most popular works you can witness in the museum are Goya's collection of The Black Paintings, and Garden of Delights by Hyeronimus Bosch among many others. It also is home to Goya's first-ever documented work, Aníbal vencedor Que por Primera Vez Mira an Italia Desde Los Alpes. Built-in the 17th century, the park was partially destroyed suing the independence war and was again rebuilt to recover its charm. A UNESCO world heritage site, Buen Retiro Park is one of the most popular parks in the city and was first opened in 1868. With over 1 million sq ft, the Royal Palace of Madrid is one of the largest palaces in Europe with 3400 rooms. The architecture of the Palace is influenced by the Italian artist Bernini and French Baroque. Admire the beautiful stone base and its large frame of windows. Enter the royal palace and admire the exquisite interiors such as the grand staircase which is made up of Agustin marble. Founded by King Fernando VI in the 18th century, it is also said that the gallery was opened first as an art school. At present, the gallery is home to works of many artists such as Murillo, Correggio, and G. Bellini, among many others. You can witness works from Italian, Spanish, and Flemish artists which are located in the permanent collection of the museum. The art gallery is also known to have the second most collection of works of the most renowned Spanish artist Francisco de Goya. The permanent collection also includes his 13 paintings such as The Tyrant and Burial of the Sardine and The Gentleman's Dream by Pereda. Witness many portraits which showcase life in the 19th century from artists like Vicente López, José de Madrazo, and Federico de Madrazo.

The Market Of San Miguel,a wholesale food market is located on the site of the San Miguel de Octoes church and was demolished after it was destroyed by a fire in the 18th century. May years later, people started setting up food stalls in the open square which was left by the church. The building was built in 1916 and was first used as a main grocery market in the city. In 2000, the building was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the monument category. The building was again refurbished in 1999 and was reopened with a new concept with both original stalls and also at-in tapas stalls with upmarket cuisine. You can stroll around the market and look at over 30 stalls that sell many traditional foods from the city and from all over the country. One of the most popular food here are the rice dishes and the most popular ‘fideuà’ by Michelin star chef Rodrigo de la Calle. 

Visit one of the busiest traffic intersections and a square that features a beautiful large fountain. This square also has a monument to Cervantes, which is one of the most popular figures of Spanish literature known for their popular work, "Don Quixote". You can also see the sculpture of Cervantes that overlooks the fictional character who was Don Quixote's squire in the novel. You can also visit the Torre de Madrid which was built in 1957 and is the tallest building in the city. The other attractions here such as Edificio España, Casa Gallardo (House of Gallardo), Edificio de la Compañía Asturiana de Minas, and also the Cervantes monument. The square is also home to many gardens with olive trees which is an excellent spot to rest during hot summer days.

One of the top places to visit with families, Madrid Río Park has many attractions such as the Matedero which is set along the bank of the river. The complex is home to many restaurants, exhibition space, and also many markets. The most popular attraction is the bridges which are across the river Arganzuela. You can witness the beautiful view of the bridges while strolling in the park. The park also offers bike rentals where you can cycle to many areas and admire the beautiful views of the city. The Madrid Río Park also has a huge shopping center which has 160 shops and food courts. The park is also home to Puente del Rey Esplanade which was the venue where the Spanish national football celebrated its victory in the South Africa world cup in 2010.
