Nambu Nayaki Amman Temple Overview

Nambu Nayaki Amman Temple is known to be the goddess who protects  the South. It is a sacred place for people to pray and make wishes, for them and their families well being. A storm hit in 1964 which shifted the Nambu nayaki amman sanctuary in Dhanushkodi. Since the entire Dhanushkodi city sank into the ocean, it was declared by Indian government as a phantom town.

Nambu Nayaki's ambal statue was removed from the ruined town and was  kept safe within the temple, in the same position it is presented today. The tirtham is also famous for having an orchid of Screw pine tree or umbrella tree which is well known for its ayurvedic properties.

Location: Near “Pudhu Road” village, Tamil Nadu.

Timing: 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM / 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM(Monday to Sunday).

Best time to visit: Early mornings from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
