Kalam National Memorial Overview

One of the most visited places in Rameswaram, Kalam National Memorial was built to commemorate APJ Abdul Kalam. The memorial showcases the history of APJ Abdul Kalam, his belongings and personal items used by him  or of him such as portraits, sketches, statues and poems.

The memorials architecture is a blend between Mughal and Indian architectural styles which celebrates the late President's ethnicity.  Entrance is designed in the way India Gate was built and is accompanied by a chettinad Door which is mimicking the entrance of
Brihadeeswara Temple in Thanjavur, whereas the central structure is a direct replica of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. All these nuances make the memorial an exceptional place to visit and learn more about the history of our country.
