St. Basil's Cathedral Overview
Even those who’ve never been to Moscow will be able to recognize the colorful domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral because of its crazy confusion of patterns, colours and shapes that is unique to Russian architecture.

Also called "Pokrovsky Cathedral" or "The Cathedral of Intercession of the Virgin by the Moat", the church was built in 1555-1561  by order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible to celebrate his victory over the Khanate of Kazan. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a magnificent work with 8 distinctive candy-coloured onion domes.

Location: Krasnaya ploshad, Tsentralny administrative okrug Moskva, 109012, Russia.
