Salón de Embajadores Overview

Salón de Embajadores or the Hall of Ambassadors is the most ornate hall of the Seville Alcazar's Mudejar Royal Palace. The throne was here, and it was used for official receptions, so it was designed as one of the most beautiful thrones. The lavish, ornate decoration and superb porcelain and plaster work, depicting Gothic and Renaissance themes throughout the hall are a sight to behold.

The Salón de Embajadores, also known as the Throne Room, was the most significant hall of the Seville Alcazars as it housed the throne and was used for official events and public gatherings. The room is opulently furnished and leaves everyone in awe of its splendor.

The Salón de Embajadores is a square room with four traditionally Moorish walls covered in ceramic tiles from Triana and ornate decorations, such as calligraphic bird designs. There is a spectacular cedarwood cupola, with intricate carvings and geometric designs (circles, tears, stars, and other shapes), which offers breathtaking perspective.

It is approximately nine meters in diameter and features numerous star patterns made of gold and mirrors that symbolize the universe and God above all other beings. The Salón de Embajadores reflects the religious and cultural influences of both Islam and Christianity. It's similar to Muslim Qubba, which represents the earth, and the dome above represents the universe.

Since the hall was where dignitaries were received and royal meetings were held, it was built to exude dominance. The blue, white, and gold colors, as well as golden dragons and Arabic calligraphy, add a mystical appeal to the hall. If you want to experience the majesty and history of Seville, there is no better location than the Salón de Embajadores in the Royal Alcazar.
