La Giralda, also simply called The Giralda, is a world-renowned Christian bell tower of the Cathedral of Seville. It is one of the most iconic and symbolic monuments of Seville, and is representative of its diverse and rich history. Originally built in the mediaeval era as a minaret for the Great Mosque of Seville, a major part of it is in the Moorish style of architecture.

Later on after the Christian conquests of the region, the minaret was modified and converted into a bell tower, with a Renaissance-styled belfry. Due to its rich cultural heritage and also its beauty, it has been listed along with the Cathedral in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites. Considering its golden history and architectural magnificence, this place is an important tourist site.

It also houses an important museum, where you can find countless artefacts, Renaissance paintings, sculptures, etc-. It is home to the tomb of the famous navigator and explorer - Christopher Columbus.
