Mandvi Gate Overview
Its name translates to mean “a pillared hall” in Sanskrit, the Mandvi gate is a pavilion or Mandapa standing precisely on the midpoint of the city of Vadodara. The structure was initially built as a two-storied pavilion by the Gujarat Sultanate and later expanded to four storeys by the Gaekwads.

The massive structure consists of three arched doorways and a domed clock tower on the top. During the Gaekwad era, the celebrated Mandvi Gate was the place from which all essential announcements were made.
