About Anandpur Sahib
Situated about 100 km away from Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib is located in the Roper district of Punjab. It is bordered by the Shivalik Hills towards the east and Sutlej River on the west. Known for verdant green meadows, this city is hailed as one of the most sacred places for the Sikhs in Punjab. It is said that the city was founded by the ninth Sikh Guru- Guru Tegh Bahadur in 1665.

The city is believed to be a place where Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji had spent 25 years of his life by propagating his teachings. Therefore the city is also called the Holy City of Bliss and is well known for its spiritual ambience.

With a number of Gurdwaras built to pay respect to the Sikh Gurus, the city attracts many religious travellers. Moreover, the city has five forts which depict the military grandeur and splendour. It is a prominent place for the Sikhs and is well-connected to almost all the major cities in the state.

When you are in Anandpur Sahib, explore memoirs of Sikh warriors and see the relics of Sikh history at Virasat-e-Khalsa Sikh Museum and enjoy the vibrant celebrations of Baisakhi in Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib Ji.

You should take a dip in the sacred waters of Sarovar Anandpur Sahib or see the artefacts of Sikh history at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sikh Museum. The nature lovers here will admire the scenic landscapes of Roper Wetlands, Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary and see the second largest dam in India-the Bhakra Nangal Dam.
