Located 180 km from Bangalore and 46 km away from Dharmapuri is a waterfall as spectacular as all the beauty of the heaven has been captures in the splashes and gushes of the running water of that falls. It’s called Hogenakkal Falls or Hogenakal Falls and it flows on the river Cauvery.
It is coined as Niagra of India due to the high waterfall intensity. These falls are supposed to be the oldest waterfalls in the whole of South East Asia and also supposed to be well known for its medicinal baths and boat rides. Hogenakkal means a ‘smoking rock’ which actually came to be formed because of the chasm the water creates when it rushes and gushes and hits the carbonite walls. Boat rides are done in coracles which are shaped like baskets which take the visitors through some mind boggling creations of nature. For all those who are the adventurous sorts can choose to stick around for a longer time. The best time to come here is during the rainy months of December to February.
