Roundhay Park Overview

Roundhay Park is a beautiful park in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is the largest municipal park in Europe and was opened to the public in 1868. It has a large variety of wildlife and plants due to its large size. The park has many different areas for people to enjoy, such as formal gardens, woodland walks, sports fields, children's play area and even a deer sanctuary.

Roundhay Park is one of the largest parks in Leeds. In 1866, Roundhay Park was donated to the city by Henry Arthur Bright and his wife Georgina. The park has been home to many attractions since then, with its latest addition being the long-awaited children's play area which opened in 2016. The park is also home to an artificial lake that was created in 1994 and hosts boat trips on weekends throughout summer months. The park is popular with dog walkers after it became home to the first ever off-lead dog area in Leeds in 2000. Be it the miniature steam railway, exploring the lake and its many islands, taking a stroll around one of the numerous woodlands, or taking to the fields for a game of football or frisbee, Roundhay park has something for everyone.
