Spofforth Castle Overview

Spofforth Castle is a ruined medieval castle in the village of Spofforth, North Yorkshire, England. The castle was built in the 12th century by the de Spofforth family and was remodeled in the 14th century. 

It was besieged by the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War and was partially demolished in 1649. The castle is a Grade I listed building and is currently in the care of English Heritage.
