Firangi Mahal Overview

Lucknow is known for its architecture and grandeur. Among the list of palaces is the Firangi Mahal. During the reign of the Mughal emporer Aurangzeb, this grand monument belonged to a French businessman named Neal who lived here with other French traders. Situated between the Victoria Road and the popular Chowk of Lucknow, the building is no less than a palace. It was confiscated by the government of Aurangzeb and was transferred to the emperor’s properties.

Moreover, Aurangzeb’s consultants used this building for imparting Islamic education and it soon became one like the Oxford in popularity. The place has a special significance for Islamic heritage and culture and its preservation.
