Things to Do in Sikar

Nehru Park
One of the largest parks, the Nehru Park is among the prominent tourist attractions in Sikar. Used for many social gatherings during festivities like Gangaur, it is a different experience to be in the town during the celebrations. However, despite that also the place remains bustling with people on picnics, walks and leisurely things to admire the harboured flowers and semi-herbal plants.

Devgarh Fort
Devgarh Fort is a stunning hillock Fort built in 1787 by Rao Raja Devi Singh of Sikar. Located in Devgarh, at a distance of 10 kilometres away from the city centre atop a hill with an elevation of 2100 feet above sea level.

The magnificent establishment is one of the most authentic places to visit in Sikar to enjoy expansive views of the surroundings. Designed and ornamented with traditional Shekhawati architecture, frescos, carvings etc., one cannot make do without taking a comprehensive tour of the property during the royal vacation.

Laxmangarh Fort
Built in 1862 by Maharaja Lakshman Singh, the Lakshmangarh Fort is one of the many astounding forts in the Shekhawati Region and places to visit in Sikar. Situated atop scattered, massive rock formations in the village of Lakshmangarh, named after Rao Raja himself.

The colossal structure is one unique architectural marvel in the world and is partly owned by the Jhunjhunwala Family and only some areas are open for public visitation. Within the premises are grand additions are wings from where a bird’s-eye view of the town can be enjoyed.

Harshnath Temple
Located at a distance of 11 kilometres from the main Sikar city centre in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, the Harshnath Temple is an ancient place of worship dedicated to the Hindu Lord Shiva. As per the available inscription, the original temple dates back to 973 CE and is said to have been built by Bhavarakta during the reign of Chahamana king Vigraharaja II.

The site was then demolished by the Mughal ruler ‘Aurangzeb’ in 1679. After a few years in 1718, a new temple was erected by Rao Shivsingh at the same spot using the ruins of the old temple. And since then the site has been a prominent pilgrimage and among tourist attractions in Sikar.

Ganeshwar
Ganeshwar is a quaint and small village in the Sikar district, laid out near the copper mines of the Khetri copper belt in the Sikar-Jhunjhunu area. An ancient land, one can find remains and ruins of a 4000-year-old civilization that had lived here at once.

Apart from being a significant archaeological site, the village has also emerged to be one of the best places to visit in Sikar. One can spend a day-out here with a packed picnic, and also explore the renowned sulphur hot springs.

Location: Neem-ka-Thana Tehsil, Sikar District, Rajasthan.

Timings: 24 hours.
Khatushyamji Mandir
Located around 65 kilometres from the Sikar city centre, KhatushyamJi Temple is a significant pilgrimage site among the believers of the Hindu Lord Krishna. Apart from that also, many other devotees and tourists pay a visit to this revered sacred site.

Built in the year 1027 AD by Roopsingh Chauhan and his wife Nirmala Kanwar, the temple since its inception has associated many legends and myths with it. The Khatu Shyam Ji Mela ‘Fair’ is one of the best times to visit and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the celebrations.

Timings: Winter Season: 5:30 am to 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm | Summer Season: 4:30 am to 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Danta Ramgarh
Danta Ramgarh is a historical fort situated in the Ramgarh Village, located at a distance of 51 kilometres from Sikar City. Built in 1733 by Guman Singh Ladkhani, the grandiose structure sits at a slight elevation, compared to the rest of the village and thus, presents stunning views of the surrounding scenery. One can also take a tour of the promises to admire the scrumptious architecture and detailing, which make it one of the top places to visit in Sikar.
