Ladakh Holiday Packages from Mumbai

Reviewed by Thrillophilia Ladakh Operations Team

Leh Ladakh tour packages from Mumbai range between INR 17,000 and INR 48,100 per person for trips lasting between 6 and 12 days, depending on season, route, and whether flights are bundled in.

Mumbai sits at sea level, while Leh sits at roughly 11,500 feet, so the single biggest planning factor on any Ladakh trip from Mumbai is altitude, not distance. Direct flights from Mumbai to Leh run only through the summer season, from April to October, and travellers who fly out in the shoulder months need a connecting flight via Delhi instead.

Inner Line Permit, SIM Card, and On-Ground Logistics

Mumbai travellers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter restricted zones such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Hanle, and Turtuk.

  • Permit Type: Inner Line Permit (ILP) for restricted sectors of Ladakh.
  • Cost: A mandatory Environmental Development Fee of INR 400 per person, a Wildlife Fee of INR 20 per person per day, and a Red Cross fund contribution of around INR 10 to INR 50.
  • Processing Time: Usually issued within a day when applied for online through the Leh District Permit System, or in person at the DC office in Leh.
  • Documents Required: A valid photo ID such as Aadhaar or passport, and a passport-sized photograph.
  • Note: All our Ladakh packages from Mumbai include ILP handling in advance, so you are not stuck in a permit queue on arrival.

Note: Prepaid SIM cards do not work in Ladakh, so postpaid connections from Jio or BSNL are your best bet for 4G or 5G coverage in Leh town. There is no mobile network or Wi-Fi at Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, or along the Manali-Leh Highway, so download offline maps before you leave Leh. ATMs are limited to Leh town, so carry INR 10,000 to INR 15,000 in cash per person for fuel, repairs, and local purchases in Nubra and Pangong.

Best Places to Visit on Your Ladakh Tour Packages from Mumbai

There are several places to visit in Leh, but these are the ones worth prioritising across most Leh Ladakh tour packages from Mumbai, whether you're travelling as a couple, a group of friends, or planning a Ladakh family tour with kids or elders in tow.

Leh

Start exploring only after acclimatising for 48 hours. Visit Shanti Stupa for panoramic views of Leh and the Indus Valley, explore Leh Palace and the Hall of Fame, then walk through Leh Market for handicrafts and traditional Ladakhi food.

Sham Valley

A day trip here covers Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to roll uphill on their own, and Sangam Point, where the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet. Round off the evening at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.

Nubra Valley

En route, you cross Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world at 19,024 feet. A short Bactrian camel ride at the Hunder Sand Dunes rounds out the Nubra leg of most Ladakh tour packages from Mumbai.

Pangong Tso

Sitting at 14,270 feet, this saline lake changes colour from deep blue to turquoise as the sun moves across the sky, and overnight camping here is one of the most requested experiences on this route.

Tso Moriri

If your itinerary runs 8 days or longer, Tso Moriri is a remote, high-altitude salt lake at 14,836 feet with the Korzok Monastery on its banks. It sees far fewer visitors than Pangong Tso, so the landscape feels rawer.

Top Experiences to Add to Your Ladakh Packages from Mumbai

With so much to see across the Leh-Ladakh circuit, these are the experiences worth prioritising in Leh on your Leh Ladakh tour packages from Mumbai, be it with friends, on your honeymoon, or as part of your Ladakh family tour.

Visit the monasteries around Leh

Thiksey Monastery holds a 49-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha, while Diskit Monastery in Nubra houses a 106-foot Maitreya Buddha overlooking the valley. If you are travelling in June, you may catch the Hemis Festival at Hemis Monastery.

Camp overnight at Pangong Tso

Watching the lake shift from deep blue to turquoise while camping under a sky full of stars is consistently one of the most memorable parts of this entire circuit.

Ride a Bactrian camel in Nubra Valley

The Hunder Sand Dunes offer a rare high-altitude cold desert landscape, with the double-humped Bactrian camel found almost exclusively in this region.

Ride the Manali-Leh Highway on a bike

Many travellers from Mumbai ship their bikes to Chandigarh or Srinagar, or rent one in Manali, to ride through Taglang La and Rohtang Pass as an extension to their trip.

Try adventure activities in Leh

River rafting on the Indus suits beginners and families, while the Zanskar River suits experienced rafters. Travelers visiting in January or February can also take on the Chadar Trek.

Ladakh Tours From mumbai FAQs

How much does a Ladakh package from Mumbai cost in 2026?

The cost of Ladakh tour packages from Mumbai in 2026 ranges from INR 17,000 to INR 70,000 per person, depending on duration, season, and whether flights are included. A 6-day (5-night) trip starts around INR 17,000 land-only, while a 7-day (6-night) journey ranges from INR 19,900 to INR 20,800 land-only.

Are there direct flights from Mumbai to Leh?

Yes, direct flights between Mumbai (BOM) and Leh (IXL) run seasonally from April to October. During winter, you need a connecting flight via Delhi.

How many days do I need for a Ladakh trip from Mumbai?

You need at least 6 to 7 nights. Anything shorter does not allow for the 2 nights of acclimatisation required before safely travelling to Nubra Valley or Pangong Tso. If Tso Moriri is on your list, extend the trip to 8 nights or more.

Do I need an Inner Line Permit for Ladakh?

Yes, an Inner Line Permit is required for restricted zones such as Nubra Valley, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, and Dah-Hanu villages. It can be arranged through the LAHDC Leh Permit portal or in person at the DC Office in Leh.

What is the best time to visit Ladakh from Mumbai?

Early summer, from April to June, is the most practical window, with daytime temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. This period suits Pangong Tso, Khardung La, and most adventure activities.

Can elderly people or people with BP and heart conditions visit Ladakh?

Ladakh is not always suitable for elderly travellers due to the high-altitude risk, and those with uncontrolled BP or recent heart issues should reconsider. If travelling anyway, get medical clearance first and book hotels with easy oxygen access.

Is Ladakh safe for a first-time high-altitude traveller?

Yes, provided the itinerary allows for acclimatisation. Mumbai travellers arriving from sea level should rest completely on Day 1 and spend 2 nights adjusting before heading to higher passes like Khardung La.

Can I plan a Ladakh bike trip from Mumbai?

Yes. You can ship your bike to Chandigarh or Srinagar, or rent one in Manali, and either add a biking leg on the Leh-Nubra stretch to a regular package or plan a dedicated ride along the Manali-Leh Highway.

What should I pack for a Ladakh trip from Mumbai?

Pack warm layers even in summer, since winds at Pangong Tso and high passes stay cold. Carry sunscreen, UV-protection sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, a light down jacket, thermal innerwear, and sturdy walking shoes.

Is it safe to travel to Ladakh during monsoon season?

Yes. Ladakh sits in a rain-shadow zone and receives far less rainfall than most of India, so roads to Nubra Valley and Pangong Tso generally stay open from July to September. The Manali approach road can face landslides in July and August, so confirm road status before you travel and book early, since hotels and camps fill up fast in this window.
